Chapter 64: Chapter 64

Light filtered in through the large windows in Celeste and Caspian's bedroom early in the morning. Celeste sat at the foot of the bed, grasping the auction notice in both hands. Emerald eyes traced the black letters, the heaviness of an eventual loss bearing down on her shoulders. The well-appointed room, decorated with family photos and treasured mementoes, felt claustrophobic, each object another painful reminder of what was at stake.

His well-tailored dark suit aside, Caspian was visibly tense next to her, his demeanour much less collected than it usually was. His wide shoulders were hunched as he stared at the notice, taking in its dire implications."We can't allow this," he vowed, the steadiness in his voice contrasting the fear glinting in his eyes. "I will do whatever it takes to prevent the sale."

Celeste touched him, putting a hand on his arm for reassurance. "We're in this together," she whispered, her voice trembling with a cocktail of hope and dread. "But determination is not enough. We need to act fast."

Caspian nodded, determination etched across his jaw. "I will contact my contacts and will see if we can freeze the auction in any way.We need every edge that we can find."

As they got ready for the day ahead, the calm atmosphere was interrupted by the piercing buzz of Caspian's phone. He looked at the screen, darkness crossing his face as he recognized the incoming call. His voice tight, he answered without hesitation. "Caspian speaking."

"Soren has placed your business accounts on hold," a voice on the other end announced tersely. "You can't do anything now."

"Oh!" Celeste gasped, hand going over her mouth. Caspian narrowed his

eyes, understanding the seriousness of what this meant. "What do you want. Soren?" he growled, his voice laced with fury.

"There's nothing you can do," Soren replied smoothly. "The auction wvill go forward as scheduled. It's time you conceded your loss."

The line went silent, leaving in its wake a thick silence. Caspian glánced at the phone, brain whirling. "He's taken everything from us," he whispered, shoulders slumping as if crushed by the weight of betrayal.Celeste leant in, her fingers squeezing his arm. "We can't give up now. There has to be another way."

But as they stood, hand in hand, the calm before the storm, the truth of Soren's ruthless tactics hung over them like a black cloud. They were at a boiling point in the fight for their house, and the fate of Hayes Enterprises and the next move would decide if they could save the remnants of their lives.

The office of Roman was dimly lamp-lit, with multiple screens glowing before him, his face enwrapped in their light. There papers and digital files dotted the desk, each individual data point carefully examined and cross-compared. Rubbing his temples, Roman leaned back in his chair, his eyes fixed on the decrypted data flashing across his screen. "Celeste, I believe I have discovered it," he replied, his voice both tinged with thrill and exhaustion.

Celeste strode into the room, her auburn hair drawn back in a no-nonsense bun, eyes gleaming. She had an aura of grace mixed with urgency in the way she approached the desk. "Let me see," she said, looking at Caspian, who waited by the door with his mixture of hope and residual terror.

Roman gestured to a series of digital documents on the screen. "These

counterfeit bank records were the basis for the refusal to pay your payments. Through your marriage contract, Soren structured the financial aspects of your relationship in such a way that he is able to exert indirect control over your monetary transactions. That's the leverage we need to beat his legal struggles."

Celeste's pulse quickened as she flipped through the evidence, untangling the intricate web of deception that had fallen before her eyes. "This is it,"she whispered, a rush of relief and determination sweeping her. "With this,we can wipe him out entirely."

Roman nodded and searched the data for any further clues. "There's one final thing we need." The ultimate proof that ties it all together is sealed in a private safe in Soren's mansion. It has the original contracts and communications that will seal the deal on his manipulation."

Caspian stepped up, his voice strong. "We have to get into that safe. It is our only legal way to bring him down."

But just as they worked up their strategy, Celeste's phone pinged with a timed email from Soren. The subject line was blunt: "Falsified Evidence Release." Her palms went sweaty as she opened the message to find volumínously forged documents aimed at setting her up for corporate fraud.

Roman's eyes widened in understanding. "He intends to release this to the press within the hour. If we don't take action now, everything will be lost."

The sense of urgency had begun to smother Celeste. "We have to move immediately. "Roman, can you get the last piece of the mansion.

His colleagues met his eyes, and the look of resolve in his eyes was lit on fire. "I can't do it alone. We need a team to break into the mansion and

steal the evidence before Soren's email goes live."

Mistakes were no longer an option, a single slip and the glove became a noose. It was literally the missing piece, and getting it would take every ounce of their courage and ingenuity.

Sterling Price's mansion had a grand foyer, a palatial display of affluence with its marble floors and massive columns that spoke of wealth and clout.

In front of the massive wooden doors, a nervous Talia Montague stood, her heart beating in her chest. Her father, Soren, had called her in for a reckoning, and the burden of her conflicting allegiances was sitting heavy on her shoulders.

She inhaled heavily and made her way in, the hall haloing bright sounds.Sterling was waiting in his private study, a room adorned with pricey artwork and sleek furniture. His silver hair was impeccably styled, and his piercing blue eyes drilled into hers with curiosity and menace.

"Talia," Sterling said smoothly like a snake quietly hissing. "Please, have a seat."

She stood, fists clenched at her sides. "I can't keep doing this, Sterling. I want out," she admitted, her voice quavered with a blend of fear and resolve. "I want to protect Celeste and Caspian, but I can't remain complicit in your schemes."

Sterling leaned closer, his face inscrutable. "You're making a mistake, Talia. You owe your allegiance to our family legacy-not to a sinking CEO.What makes you think you can do that to me and get away with it?"

Talia stepped forward, her eyes locking onto his with fierce determination."What you're doing is destroying everything we cherish. I will not sit by and watch you destroy our family and Hayes Enterprises."

Sterling's lips curled in a sly smile, his tone hardening. "Think carefully,Talia. You know what happens to those who cross me. "You can keep going down this road and pay the price, or you can walk away and lose it all.'

The threat hung in the air like a storm cloud as Talia shivered. "I'm choosing to do what's right," she said, her voice steady even as fear gnawed at her. "I'm not going to let you continue to manipulate and destroy our family.

Sterling narrowed his eyes, menace flashing in the look. "Cross me, and not only will you lose your place within Hayes Enterprises, but you will find yourself facing personal ruin.' So is it worth giving up everything for this misplaced sense of righteousness of yours?"

Talia did not back down; the burden of her choice was heavy on her."I would rather lose it all than lose my integrity and our future."

Before she could answer, footsteps echoed down the hall. Celeste walked into the room, a fire in her tone. "Talia, what are you doing?" she said, her eyes blazing in frustration.

Sterling glanced at Celeste, an evil grin on his face. "Ah, the brave Celeste. It's time we talk about the future of Hayes Enterprises."

The tension thickened as Talia and Celeste locked gazes that were equal parts angry and sad.
