Chapter 98: Chapter 98

Hayes Enterprises' high-security server room thrummed with the quiet hum of cooling systems and the occasional click of a keyboard.Without hesitation, Roman Martinez steered himself to the forefront, his dark hair slightly ruffled from a few hours of hard work, his piercing blue eyes glued to the various displays featuring lines of code and waves of data.Screens partially lighting the room reflected the gravity of his mission.Wearing a fitted black shirt and dark jeans, his athletic physique radiated strength and purpose.

With auburn hair styled with respect and emerald eyes glued to the same data as Roman, Celeste Montague entered the room. Clad in a tailored blazer that mirrored her composed demeanour, she exuded calm but presence.Talia walked up to join them, with her auburn hair pulled back into a sensible ponytail and her emerald eyes keen and focused.

"We have traced the breach to an inside source," Roman said, his voice taut. "The activity logs indicate unauthorized access to our confidential project files. Because someone in our trusted circle is leaking information to Sterling."

Celeste felt a shiver run down her spine as the betrayal pierced her."Who could it be?" she asked, her voice calm amid an internal storm.

Roman tapped a highlighted entry on one of the displays. "Look here. The patterns of access lead straight to Derek Hayes. He had the authorization and the access to undermine our work."

In came Valentina Montague, her auburn locks cascading carelessly across her shoulder, emerald eyes shining under the interstate pour of tummy-rumbling food. "Derek? He has been one of our most stable executives.

Are you certain?"

Roman nodded firmly. "The data is clear. He's been working with Sterling.selling him our strategy and other sensitive information."

Celeste inhaled sharply, her mind thundering to catch up with the implications. "We need to face him right now. If we allow this to go,Sterling's going to have an advantage we can't afford."

Just as they were about to make a move, the door to the server room burst open.Derek Hayes stood in the doorway, the placid mask of a calm professional on his face, his dark hair beautifully coifed. His emerald gaze settled on Celeste with unsettling calm.

"Going somewhere, Celeste?" Derek asked smoothly, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "I thought we were in this together."

Celeste's heart raced because this was betrayal, a fuelling of the smoke that had begun to smoulder. "Derek, what is going on here?"

Derek opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, Roman moved 'up beside him, all upright and with authority. "Your actions have put everything we've worked for in peril. Explain yourself."

Derek's smile disappeared; a flash of defiance and fear tightened around his eyes. "I'm just trying to keep Hayes Enterprises afloat. "Sterling is what assured my future, so I'm just working on my own."

With their tension rising, another alarm went off, indicating another breach attempt. Roman was frustrated and turned back to the monitors."Sterling has not said a last word about us. He's already plotting his next step."

Celeste understood that her betrayal was only the beginning. The battle to

salvage Hayes Enterprises was reaching new heights, and the web of deception was thicker than ever.

The halls of Hayes Enterprises had been quiet, and the lounge of the company had filled up with the soft voices and clinking of glasses. Talia Montague was standing by the window, her mahogany hair swept up in a chignon, her emerald-hued eyes, the eyes to have if one did but know it,softened by determination, and apprehension. In a chic, professional frock, she floated through the room, exchanging pleasantries with colleagues and investors alike, gracious and confident.

Caspian Montague strode into the lounge with the sun glinting off his perfectly coiffed dark hair and emerald-hued eyes, scanning the crowd for Talia. Notably commanding to the audience, he displayed a slight weariness in his silhouette. Talia greeted him with an encouraging smile and an outstretched hand as he neared.

"Caspian, good to see you," shesaid warmly, her voice steady. "We need to talk about the latest developments."

He heard a sharp intake of breath before he could respond. In the far right corner of the room, a small group of executives whisper among themselves, casting suspicious glances towards Talia. Caspian could sense the change in their attitude, the unfinished questions hanging between them.

One of the executives, Mr. Thompson, pressed forward, and his brow furrowed. "Talia, can I speak to you alone?"

Talia's heart stopped, and a shadow of uncertainty washed over her jade-green iises, "Of course, Mr. Thompson. Is everything alright?"

He waved her over to a more private section of the lounge. "I found a few

encrypted messages between you and Sterling. Care to explain?"

Talia panicked, her mind working overtime to reply. "I don't know what you're talking about. I have never spoken with Sterling."

Mr. Thompson's eyes were steady as he suspected the worst. "The messages imply the contrary. Further inquiries are called for in this case.It is important for the integrity of our company."

Caspian wrapped an arm around her shoulders, a grounding presence even as Talia's thoughts skittered around her mind. "What's going on here?" he barked, his emerald green eyes fixing Mr. Thompson's with authority.

Mr. Thompson glanced at Caspian, his face unreadable. "We have to check Talia's phone calls. There are grave repercussions here."

Talia's voice thinned, the accusation landing hard. "I swear I didn't turn on you. But I know who did.

Silence filled the room, her words hanging in the air like a heavy fog.Caspian's gaze searched Talia's face, confusion and concern both churning in his eyes. The bonds of trust were frayed, and the true enemy lay cloaked in enemy combatants amongst their ranks.

At Hayes Enterprises, there was a flurry of activity in the office, the buzz of chatter and the sound of keyboards dominating the atmosphere.Caspian Montague stood at his desk, his black suit perfectly cut and his emerald green eyes crossing over a litany of emails and reports. His leadership felt like a burden, and the recent treachery and suspicion only added to the pressure.

Valentina Montague stepped into the office, her auburn hair tumbling down her back, emerald eyes burning with resolve. Next to Caspian's desk,

she looked graceful and tough. "Caspian, we need to discuss recent events.11

Before he could answer, a notification appeared on Caspian's screen-an urgent email with Sterling Price in the subject line. His heartbeat quickened as he opened the message, and thereupon the screen sent a shiver through his soul. The email included forged documents purportedly showing financial irregularities, which were carefully manufactured to make it appear he had committed a crime.

As Caspian absorbed the highly damaging information, Roman Martinez came barreling into the office, his face a portrait of exasperation and urgency. "Caspian, we've discovered the true traitor. It's Derek Hayes. He's been working for Soren all the time.'

Caspian had felt the rage and shock, betrayal slicing through him. He looked at Valentina with-no tremor in his voice despite the confusion."It was Derek who committed the data breach and forged the documents. We have to confront him now."

Valentina nodded, her conviction unshakeable. "We have to act swiftly. If Derek keeps screwing us up, Hayes Enterprises is toast."

They walked to Derek's office, an air of tension and expectancy in the corridor. Derek had one of those smirks on his face as they entered.standing next to his desk, green eyes glittering with mischief.

"Looking for me?" "Oh yeah?" Derek asked smoothly, feigning false innocence.

"What do you want," someone said and stepped forward. "Derek, it's over.We know everything."

Derek lost his smile; his eyes flicked nervously. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Valentina had her prepared falsified documentation, slapping them onto Derek's desk with a loud bang. "We have evidence that you were working with Soren. It's too late to deny anything at this point."

Roman lunged at Derek as he tried to run away, and a fight between the two men ensued, grabbing the attention of employees nearby. Caspian loomed over Derek, his jade orbs equally triumphant and pained. "It's done. Derek. You've turned your back on everything that we represent."

But just as they were beginning to think they had won the battle, Derek leaned back, a devious smirk creeping across his face. "It's too late. Your deal's already dead."

Caspian's heart dropped, shocked by the knowledge that Soren had predicted their every move. The battle for Hayes Enterprises was only just beginning, and the insidious tendrils of betrayal had sunk only deeper.making them more vulnerable than ever.
