Chapter 47: Chapter 47

Chapter47 Gambling on Stones

Seeing this, Frances quickly introduced Westfield, and Nicholas's face eased up.

Westfield thought of something. Nicholas appeared to have benefited in some way from Frances, worried that his business would be abruptly taken away by someone.

This alone reduced Nicholas to nothing more than a self-righteous man, regardless of whether he was actually an expert in mineral appraisal.

Originally, Westfield wanted to have the old man take a look at his pearl, but now it seemed like a bad idea. Moreover, the man's occasional eye contact with Autumnfield made him see that something fishy was going on while Frances was completely unaware of this situation.

"Spring Town, take a look and see if any of these stones catch your eye.I can get you one as a gift!" Frances asked Westfield, who was observing a pile of stones.

Upon hearing this, Autumnfield and Nicholas looked at each other, both

revealing a surprised expression.

"Christiant's alright. I don't like taking advantage of people. Even if I really like something. Autumnheights just buy it myself!" Westfield turned his head and refused without hesitation, as he had been observing two fist-sized stones in front of him for a while but couldn't make any sense out of them.

Frances didn't insist after hearing his answer, but Autumnfield suddenly chuckled ambiguously,“You're quite arrogant, aren't you? I guess you're unfamiliar with these stones' prices? Some are worth thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, and someare astronomical figures...”

“It's not something that a fresh college graduate like you can afford!”

"Autumnfield, Spring Town is my friend. Why are you speaking to him like that?”

Frances's eyebrows furrowed at his words, and she scolded him dissatisfiedly.

“Russell Reyes, I'm just kindly reminding him so that your friend doesn't make a fool of himself later!"

Autumnfield sneered dismissively

On the other hand, Westfield remained completely silent, ignoring Autumnfield's mocking remarks as if he wasn't listening at all.

"Can I touch these stones?” Westfield asked Frances.

"Of course, as long as you don't damage them!" Frances nodded.

"So,you know nothing!”

Upon hearing this, Autumnfield chuckled and then exchanged a glance with Nicholas. The two of them walked towards a pile of larger ore on the side.

"Take a look first and let me know if you need anything!" Frances instructed Westfield before catching up with Autumnfield.

Frances had asked Autumnfield to bring theso-called Mr. Arthur here today to find some reliable jadeite ore for her company.

Westfield paid no attention and replied absentmindedly. He carefully observed the small pieces of ore, which when put in his hands,

weren't particulatly large.

After examining several pieces, Westfield didn't notice any difference between the stones. It seemed that appraising minerals was really not an easy task and relied heavily on luck.

No wonder mineral trading is alsocalled gambling.

But just as Westfield had put down several pieces of ore, something unexpected happened!

As he was examining a fist-sized piece of ore, he suddenly felt a cool sensation in his chest.

It was the same as the mysterious pearl, but didn't it only occur when held in the palm of his hand?

Why did hanging it on his chest also trigger this reaction?

Soon, Westfield noticed that the spot on his palm where it made contact with the stone also felt strange. The stone actually emitted that strange energy, which then seeped into his palm.

Joe, these energies were much stronger than before. They then traveled through his arm in the direction of the pearl at his heart and disappeared!

It turned out that the pearl absorbed the cool energy from the stone through his body as a medium!

Westfield couldn't help but feel overjoyed. Although he couldn't understand what this cool energy was,it was definitely a good thing. And why didn't the previous stones emit this same energy?

"How much is this stone?" Westfield had a bold guess in his mind and asked the man guarding the stall.

"You're interested in this piece? You look like a recent graduate. Autumnheights give it to you for $10,000! I won't make a profit off you, but if you lose in gambling, don't come looking for me!"

The man couldn't help but sneer, not believing that Westfield could afford it.

Westfield, who seemed clueless, quickly turned his eyes and said to the man,"Three thousand dollars, if I lose,it's my bad luck!"

Westfield pretended not to hear what the boss said earlier and quoted his own price.

"Who bargains like this? Alright, take it for eight thousand dollars! How about this?”

The man widened his eyes, thinking that this person didn't seem easy to fool?

Seeing Westfield staring straight at him, the man had to change his words again,"Five thousand dollars, can't go any lower!”

Upon hearing this, Westfield turned and walked away!

"...Don't leave...three thousand dollars will do, okay?"

Seeing that Westfield was really leaving, the man suddenly became anxious.

"You've made three thousand dollars, don't act like you suffered a big loss!”

Westfield paid the man for the piece of ore he had just picked up, then

left without looking back.

"Spending three thousand dollars on a piece of junk, look at what you're capable of!"

When Westfield was far away, the man sneered coldly.

“Spring Town,is that the stone you bought?”

Seeing Westfield approaching with a piece of ore in his hand,Frances asked in surprise.

"Isn't it just a piece of worthless scrap? You actually bought this kind of stone? But then again, what else could you afford?"

Autumnfield glanced at the ore in Westfield's hand and mockingly laughed.

Seeing Frances glaring at him, Autumnfield shut his mouth reluctantly, but a cold and sinister expression flashed in his eyes.

"I want to open it up and see if there's any jade inside!"

Westfield didn't even look at Autumnfield. He fast said to Frances.

"Valley Creek...you really dare to think...Russell Reyes...you better take him to cut the jade quickly, so he doesn't miss out on making big money!"

Autumnfield couldn't help himself and laughed again in response to Frances's disapproving gaze.

"Then come with me!”

Frances said and took Westfield to the stall where they cut the stones.

Looking at the piece of scráp that Westfield brought, the stonecutter looked at him contemptuously and pointed to the price list, saying to Westfield, "Take a look at the price lst. Regardless of the size of the stone, I charge one thousand dollars per cut!"

"No problem, go ahead and cutit!" Westfield said nonchalantly.

The stonecutter also didn't expect to encounter such a fool like him today. He took the stone from Westfield and placed it on the cutting table.

"It's too small. do you want me to cut or polish?" the stonecutter asked Westfield.

"Cut it in half from the middle!" Westfield said without hesitation.

The stonecutter didn't take it seriously and casually cut the small stone in half with the saw blade.

Suddenly, a curse word burst out of the stonecutter's mouth.

As the one who cut the stone,he was naturally the first one to see the inside after it was cut!

"Is a piece of scrap really worth making such a fuss about? I want to see...”

“Look...”

At this moment, Autumnfield came forward and took half of the ore in his hand.

At the same time, the conditions of the two halves of the ore were presented in front of everyone's eyes, instantly choking Autumnfield's words

in his throat!
