Sophia Laurent slept deeply.
Ethan Sullivan rose quietly, his tall frame casting a long shadow across the hospital room.
He stepped outside and spoke in a low voice to the bodyguards. "Watch her closely."
"Yes, Mr. Sullivan," they answered immediately, standing at attention.
After the previous incident, they dared not let their guard down for even a second.
Ethan strode away from the hospital.
His black Maybach sped through the night.
He dialed Detective Kevin North's number, his voice icy. "Is all the evidence ready?"
"Absolutely airtight," Kevin replied.
As the car passed the Valentine Corporation building, Ethan called Isabella Valentine.
"Come downstairs now," he commanded.
Isabella's hand trembled around her phone. "Ethan, I—"
"Three minutes." He hung up abruptly.
The Grandelle mansion blazed with lights.
The moment Ethan entered, Diana Grandelle's wails pierced the air.
"Vincent! I've been with you for forty years!" She clung desperately to Vincent Grandelle's leg.
Vincent's face was ashen.
Kevin had already shown him the lab results.
He never imagined the woman he'd shared half his life with could be so vicious.
"Get off!" He kicked Diana away violently.
She collapsed on the floor, her makeup smeared.
A former opera star, Diana knew how to perform.
Tears streamed down her face instantly.
"Vincent, let me explain—"
"Explain what?" Vincent laughed bitterly. "You nearly killed Sophia's baby!"
Diana's eyes darted nervously. "You were the one who took the tea—"
Slap!
Vincent's palm struck her cheek.
Diana clutched her face, stunned.
"I've never hit a woman in my life," Vincent said, his voice shaking. "You're the first."
He turned to leave.
Diana scrambled up to chase after him, but Ethan blocked her path.
He looked at Isabella. "Remember what we discussed?"
Isabella's face went pale. "She's my grandmother..."
"Either she takes the beating, or she goes to prison." Ethan's tone was glacial.
Isabella bit her lip, then nodded.
She walked up to Diana and raised her hand.
Slap!
The sharp crack of the slap echoed through the courtyard.
Diana gaped in shock. "Isabella? You—"
"Grandmother, I'm sorry." Isabella sobbed. "This is for your own good."
Another slap landed.
Diana's cheek swelled instantly.
Bodyguards moved forward to hold her steady.
Isabella rained blows down on her grandmother's face.
"Put some strength into it," Ethan observed coldly. "Did you skip dinner?"
Gritting her teeth, Isabella raked her nails down Diana's face.
"Ahhh!" Diana screamed.
Five bloody gashes appeared.
She shoved Isabella away violently.
Isabella stumbled backward—
And landed squarely on a cactus.
"AAAAHHH!"
Her shriek split the night.
At that moment, police sirens wailed in the distance.
Kevin burst in with officers.
"You lied to me!" Isabella struggled to her feet, grabbing Ethan's sleeve.
Ethan shook her off with disgust.
"Honor?" He smirked cruelly. "You don't deserve it."
As he turned away, a ruthless smile curved his lips.
"Take them away," he told Kevin.
The police cars roared off into the night.
Ethan stood beneath the moonlight, his silhouette tall and merciless.
Karma always comes for the wicked.
