Sophia frowned slightly. "Will Vincent's career be affected?"
Vincent gently patted her shoulder. "Evelyn won't report it, and neither will you. The only one we need to guard against is Theodore."
"I understand." Sophia exhaled in relief. "How are the wedding preparations going?"
"Audrey is handling the wedding dress."
Sophia's eyes brightened. "I almost forgot they're best friends. Have you chosen the groomsmen and bridesmaids?"
Vincent looked troubled. "Most of our friends at this age are already married."
"Leave it to me." Sophia pulled out her phone.
After several calls, the groomsmen were confirmed: Alexander, Kyle, and Zane.
The bridesmaids would be Natalie and Iris.
"We're still missing one." Sophia counted on her fingers.
Vincent pondered for a moment. "Let's ask Vincent Ren's daughter to fill in."
A sudden knock interrupted them.
Margaret entered with a stern expression.
Sophia obediently helped her sit down.
The elderly woman remained silent, her face dark.
Vincent gave Sophia a meaningful glance. "Go check on your mother."
Soft piano music drifted down from upstairs.
Vincent offered his mother a piece of fruit. "Who upset you?"
She pushed it away sharply. "Who else but you!"
"What did I do?"
"Waiting forty-seven years to marry a fifty-one-year-old? Can she even bear children anymore?"
Vincent chuckled. "Didn't she already have Alexander and Sophia?"
"What does that have to do with you!" Margaret slammed the table and stood up.
"Her children are mine."
Margaret trembled with anger. "I thought Sophia was your flesh and blood! You unfilial son!"
"Better than growing old alone. My eldest brother already has three sons."
Margaret stormed out.
On January 14th, church bells chimed melodiously.
Vincent stood tall and handsome in his black tuxedo.
Evelyn looked graceful in her white wedding gown.
Fingers intertwined, they vowed before the Bible: "In sickness and in health, till death do us part."
The audience erupted in applause.
Sophia clasped Ethan's hand tightly, tears glistening in her eyes.
Audrey watched her dearest friend at the altar, recalling youthful regrets.
Her phone vibrated—Victor was calling.
She powered it off immediately.
Outside the church, Kyle waited by the roadside for a cab.
"Hey, groomsman." A cheerful female voice rang out.
Kyle nodded tersely.
"I'm Sylvia, Vincent's niece. A dentist." She extended her hand. "Everyone calls me 'Toothcleaner'."
Kyle's lips twitched. "Kyle."
"Kyle the...?" Her gaze drifted downward. "Waist does look strong."
"Kyle," he corrected firmly.
A cab arrived. Kyle climbed straight into the front seat.
Sylvia stared at the back of his head, her pulse quickening.
The reception was held at Kyoto Grand Hotel.
Evelyn changed into a red banquet dress, radiating elegance.
When toasting Vincent Ren's table, he slurred drunkenly, "When Evelyn got married last time, you swore you'd never wed..."
Evelyn's eyes reddened.
After the banquet, Vincent supported the intoxicated Vincent Ren back to his room.
"Where's Sylvia?" Vincent Ren mumbled.
Vincent handed him water. "The young people have their own gatherings."
Suddenly lowering his voice, Vincent Ren asked, "Who is Sophia's real father?"
Blinking blearily, Vincent Ren pointed at Vincent's nose. "Far away...yet right before your eyes..."
Vincent froze.
"What did you say?"
"Sophia is your biological daughter!" Vincent Ren burst into laughter. "The best thing I ever did!"
Thunderstruck, Vincent's eyes welled with tears.
His Sophia—was truly his own flesh and blood!
