Chapter 410: Chapter 410

Sophia and Iris followed Shane out of the tomb chamber.

Chaos engulfed the site.

Professor Moore wiped the liquid from his face and said calmly, "No need to panic. Encountering remains is common in archaeology. This is embalming fluid—it prevents oxidation."

The team relaxed slightly at his words.

Shane's voice was icy. "The cadaveric toxins have already penetrated your skin. Without immediate treatment, it's fatal."

He turned and walked away without another word.

A burning sensation suddenly flared across Professor Moore's face.

He hurried after Shane. "Young man, how do we neutralize the toxins?"

Shane glanced at his discolored skin. "Twelve pounds of virgin boy's urine and twelve pounds of black donkey urine. Soak in it for seven days."

"But—" The professor hesitated.

"Do it if you want to live." Shane didn't look back as he left.

Sophia murmured, "Professor, this is life or death."

Gritting his teeth, Moore ordered his assistant, "Prepare it immediately!"

The excavation was suspended.

The team packed their equipment and departed.

Beyond the police tape, Luna stood rigidly at attention.

Two colleagues now flanked her.

Sophia nodded in greeting.

Iris waved enthusiastically. "Officer Luna, join us for dinner tonight!"

Luna offered a faint smile. "Alright."

On the way to the hotel, Iris chattered nonstop. "Sophia, I think Officer Luna and Shane would make a great couple."

Sophia smiled but remained silent.

Night fell.

The four sat at an open-air barbecue stall.

Shane silently turned skewers over the flames.

Iris leaned toward Luna. "What's your type, Luna?"

Luna spat out her beer.

Shane frowned and replaced the utensils in front of him.

Iris snickered. "Shane's unusually tolerant of you."

Sophia suddenly felt warmth at her back.

She turned to see Ethan approaching in his tailored suit.

Delighted, she rushed to him. "What are you doing here?"

Ethan pinched her cheek. "Missed you."

He eyed the greasy table with distaste before reluctantly sitting down.

Sophia peeled peanuts for him attentively.

Iris teased, "Look how docile our Sophia becomes around Ethan."

Luna couldn't help laughing.

Shane quietly shelled a plate of peanuts and pushed most of them toward Luna.

Late at night, in their hotel room, Ethan held Sophia close.

"Did you miss me?" he whispered.

Blushing, Sophia nodded.

Their passion burned like wildfire.

Next door, Shane tossed and turned.

Suddenly, his sharp ears caught movement outside the window.

"Shane! Come out now!"

A woman's voice pierced the darkness.

Shane rolled out of bed and threw open the window.

Moonlight revealed Luna's anxious face. "Someone's trying to kill you!"

Without hesitation, Shane leapt from the second floor.

Luna grabbed his hand. "Run with me!"

The warmth of her palm sent a tremor through Shane's heart.

Their figures vanished into the night.
