The second the door to the private room swung open, the vibe turned icy.
Amelia's eyes locked onto Chris in the corner.
And the delicate figure next to him.
"What the heck is going on?" Nolan's face was a mix of shock and confusion.
He quickly turned to Amelia, "Sorry, I have no idea what's happening.Just a moment ago..."
"Mr. Powell, why bother explaining to her? Do we need her permnission for anything?" Leila's voice cut through the tension.
She was draped all over Chris, her hands snaking around his neck, almost kissing hís cheek.
But Chris just sat there, letting her cling to him, not even glancing at Amelia standing at the door.
"Got it." Amelia's smile was faint, a flicker of realization in her eyes.
She'd embarrassed herself again.
Sophia was right; she was a fool for walking into this.
Being deceived over and over hadn't made her see the truth.
They were all laughing at her.
"Leila, what are you doing?" Nolan's face twisted in disgust.
"Mr. Powell, what do you think I'm doing? I'm helping Chris. Can't you see he's feeling awful?" Leila's smile was sweet, her face annoyingly charming.
Amelia turned and walked out.
She couldn't stay another second.
As soon as she left, Chris's eyes followed her.
Her back was so strong.
How had he never noticed this proud side of her before?
"Chris, want some water?" Leila's grip around his neck tightened, her voice sugary sweet.
Chris's body tensed, but he didn't push her away.
"I had someone make ginger tea; it'll be here soon." Leila kept smiling, but her eyes dimmed because Chris wasn't looking at her at all.
"Get out." Chris's voice was suddenly cold.
Leila blinked, "What?"
"Get out," Chris roared, "All of you, leave."
Leila's face went pale, and she didn't dare say another word.
Everyone else quickly left too, except for Nolan, who looked at Chris helplessly, "Look at you, causing all this drama. You should've stuck with the pity act; it was working. She came, didn't she? Now you're trying reverse psychology, but Amelia's not someone you can mess with like that."
"She's gone, so shut up!" Chris snapped, "Come over and drink!"
Nolan sighed, "Alright, alright, I give up. Having a friend like you..."
They drank glass after glass, getting completely hammered.
When they were both out cold, a figure appeared, helping to carry Chris to the presidential suite upstairs.
Then, she drew the curtains, undressed, and slipped into bed beside him.
This was how it should be.
Finally, she had her chance!
The next morning, sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a glow on Chris's handsome, chiseled face.
His head was killing him.
Chris rubbed his temples, trying to piece together the hazy memories of last night.
As he sat up, he noticed someone next to him.
Leila? His face immediately darkened.
Leila woke up at that moment too.
Their eyes met, and a flash of shock crossed her face.
"Chris, this..." She quickly pulled the blanket over herself, her voice trembling with anxiety, "I don't know what happened last night, I also..."
"Cut the act." Chris wasn't having any of it,"Get out."
Leila's face tightened, a hint of defiance showing, but she got up, turned her back to him, and quietly got dressed.
"Chris, we both passed out drunk last night. I don't blame you, and I won't tell anyone about this. Don't worry." Leila wiped away a tear, grabbed her bag, and headed for the door.
"Wait." Chris's voice halted her.
Leila's heart skipped a beat.
She knew this would work. Spending the night together, waking up in the same bed, he would have to acknowledge something happened.
And maybe, just maybe, she could win his heart!
"Leila, do you think I'm an idiot?" Chris's words were like stones thrown into a calm lake, causing ripples.
Leila's face went pale.
She felt like she couldn't breathe, as if someone was choking her, her life hanging by a thread.
"What do you mean? Are you suspecting me of deceiving you? Do you think I'm that kind of woman? How can you treat me like this?" she asked, her voice shaking.
"I'm not suspecting you," Chris sneered, "I'mn certain."
He looked at her with disdain, "This trick is old. I can't believe you'd even try it."
Leila bit herlip hard, feeling humiliated, like she was standing naked and no one even wanted to look at her.
Other women were just ordinary; how could they compare to her?
She was the one who truly loved him.
It was all Amelia's fault, that bitch.
"This is the last time I'll be lenient with you," Chris said coldly, leaving no room for argument.
Leila stood there, frozen, for a full ten minutes before she finally caught her breath.
Then she left, opened her phone, and sent all the photos she had taken last night to Amelia.
Bitch, the pain I endure, you will suffer a hundred times more!
Soon,Amelia received the photos.
Leila, being a big star, knèw how to choose the best angles. Every photo she took was sexy, glamorous, and extremely suggestive.
Amelia's hand holding the phone trembled slightly, and her heart seemed to shatter along with the photos.
After leaving the club last night, she caught a cold, her head pounding, and a low fever setting in. She knew she was pregnant and couldn't take medicine casually, so she went to Lucius's hospital for a check-up and a prenatal examination.
