Chapter 53: Chapter 53

Victor's assistant. Justin Davis, came rushing over too.

"Big thanks to Bella this time," Victor said, leaning back against the bed with a smile. He handed the box Justin brought to Amelia. "I meant to give you this gift yesterday, but I totally forgot."

Amelia was caught off guard and took it. greatly surprised. "Thank you for your gift, Mr. Victor Spencer. I really appreciate it. You haven't fully recovered yet, and you're still thinking about me and giving me the gift."

Victor had just managed to sit up, and he still looked pretty pale.

"It's no big deal. Open it up," Victor said, struggling a bit, then started coughing hard.

Amelia quickly patted his back and poured him a glass of water, just like she had done before.

Chris watched everything from the side, his gaze getting more intense.

Amelia opened the box.

A soft glow appeared before her eyes. It was a bracelet with a deep blue gemstone.

"This bracelet is a Spencer family heirloom. My wife should've given it to you,but since she's abroad, I had to do it myself," Victor said with a kind smile.

Amelia's heart raced.

Years ago, Victor had promised that once she gave birth to Chris's child,he

would give her the family heirloom bracelet, but it never happened.

And now, after all these years, the bracelet was in her hands.

"Mr. Victor Spencer, I can't accept this. I haven't married Lucius yet; I'm not part of the Spencer family," she said, a bit anxious, avoiding Victor's all-seeing eyes.

She was scared of giving anything away.

"Exactly," Chris frowned. "Grandpa, you're rushing things."

Victor glared at him. "Mind your own business."

Then he turned to Amelia and said, "Bella, this was always meant for you.As long as you and Lucius are happy, that's all that matters. When you get married. you can wear it. No, wear it now, let me see."

Victor smiled warmly at her.

Amelia felt a warmth in her heart and finally gave in, putting on the bracelet.

The bracelet was stunning. Under the light, the gemstone shone with a captivating brilliance and dazzling colors, resting against her slender wrist.

"Thank you, Mr. Victor Spencer. I really like it," Amelia said with a genuine smile.

Victor was pleased. "See? It looks beautiful on you."

"Ms. White is really lucky. In just two days, you've made Grandpa like you so much," Leila said, her voice tinged with jealousy.

"You have something too " Victor's smile faded a bit as he looked at Justin.

Justin then took out another box. also a royal blue gift box, but smaller than Amelia's.

"This is for you. Open it." Victor nodded towards Leila.

Over the past two years. Leila had occasionally visited him, showing some signs of respect and care for him. At first, he was impatient.

But over time, even for Chris's sake, he couldn't be too cold.

And with the current situation, he couldn't let things get worse.

Leila immediately cheered, hurriedly stepped forward, took the small box,and opened it.

A pair of finely crafted gold earrings lay quietly in the box, radiating a dazzling glow.

Gold was valuable, but it got nothing on that deep blue gemstone.

Like,it's worth hundreds of times less.

Leila's eyes flashed with disappointment, but with everyone watching, she had to keep it together.

She forced a smile. "Thanks, Grandpa. I absolutely love it. I'll put it on right now."

"No rush," Victor waved his hand. "Those long earrings don't match your current hairstyle. Wait until you change it up; they'll look better then."

Leila's smile froze.

What did he mean by that?

She swallowed her feelings of disparity and unwillingness, trying to look especially cheerful in front of Victor.

But when no one else was around, she couldn't keep up the act.

Standing on the stairs, she said to Amelia, who had just come back from outside, "You must be really happy today. Grandpa gave you such a valuable gemstone bracelet, but only gave me a cheap piece of junk."

She gritted her teeth, and seeing Amelia ignoring her, she got even more furious. "What exactly do you have that makes Grandpa think so highly of you?"

Amelia had just returned from buying food and didn't want to argue with the unreasonable Leila. She needed to take care of Victor.

"Please move aside and let me pass." She glanced at Leila indifferently.

Leila's face darkened. "Bella, don't get too smug. One day, I will..."

"Then I wish you success." Amelia bypassed her and walked towards

Victor's ward.

But just then, Leila suddenly stuck out her foot, trying to trip her.

Amela rolled her eyes inwardly. This fool was as foolish as ever.

Was she trying to make her fall and break the priceless bracelet?

In that split second, Amelia understood Leila's intention. She quickly lifted her foot and stomped hard on Leila's foot.

Leila immediately let out a scream and jumped in pain. The next second,

she tumbled down the stairs, crying out even more miserably.

Her cries quickly attracted a crowd, including Chris.

He stood on the stairs, seeing Leila sprawled at the bottom, looking disheveled.and a flash of disgust crossed his eyes.

But he hid it well.

"What happened?" He quickly went down and helped Leila up with one hand.

Leila had twisted her ankle, and her elbow was scraped and bleeding. She didn't seem seriously injured, but at this moment, she felt extremely wronged.

"Chris, it hurts so much. My ankle and my arms hurt. I don't know what I did to offend Ms. White. I was just greeting her, and she cruelly pushed me down the stairs."

Her acting was quite something.

Amelia was speechless.

There were surveillance cameras in the hallway. Had she forgotten?

"Ms. White, how do you explain?" Chris's clear gaze swept over, lingering on the gemstone bracelet on Amelia's wrist, his eyes growing deeper.

Amelia instinctively hid her bracelet-wearing hand behind her and coldly said, "Believe it or not,I didn't push her."

"How can you say that? You clearly pushed me. You're simply unreasonable!" Leila cried even more pitifully, tears streaming down her face.

"You're back." Amelia's eyes lit up. "Let's go see your father."
