Two weeks later, Amelia finally got out of the hospital, and Lucius and Victor were there to pick her up.
"Bella, I got this scar removal cream made specifically for you. I know you girls care about your looks, so make sure to use it every day, okay?" Victor handed her a fancy royal blue box, his eyes full of affection.
"Thanks, Mr. Spencer," Amelia said softly, but she caught sight of two familiar figures out of the corner of her eye. It was Chris and Leila.
"What are you doing here?" Victor asked, clearly annoyed as he glanced at Leila.
Leila, looking all humble, quickly stepped forward. "Grandpa, Chris and I heard Ms. White was getting discharged today, so we came to visit. I was immature before and misunderstood her. I apologize to Ms. White." She sounded really sincere and handed over a delicate gift box.
Amelia had no intention to take it, but Victor said, "Since Leila is apologizing sincerely, Bella, you should accept it. You might be family in the future." His words had a deeper meaning. Amelia took the box but didn't open it, planning to toss it later.
Unexpectedly, Leila insisted, "Ms. White, why don't you open it and take a look?"
Amelia sighed and opened it, revealing a fancy ladies' diamond watch, sparkling brightly. It was a luxury watch endorsed by Leila, worth over two million dollars. Leila, being a famous celebrity, it was no wonder she would be generous.
Amelia smirked slightly. "Ms. Ross, you seem serious, but I hope you remember what you said today. I don't want any more drama."
Leila's face changed, her barely controlled emotions almost bursting out. "Of course," she forced herself to say.
Chris stood there, looking at Amelia with a cold gaze, like he could see right through her.
"By the way, Ms. White, I was thinking of commissioning a painting from you. Would you accept my request?" Leila suddenly asked with a smile.
"Sure," Amelia smiled faintly. Who would say no to money?
The next day, Leila showed up with a photo. "Ms. White, I want you to paint this photo for me. Can you do it?" Leila crossed her arms, looking at Amelia with a smug smile.
The photo was of her and Chris, snuggled up together. Leila was smiling down, and Chris was holding her close, his expression tender. Amelia stared at the photo, feeling a bit dazed. It turned out they were quite intimate in private, and she had been completely unaware.
"Ms. White, what are you thinking?" Leila's high heels clicked, snapping Amelia back to reality.
"Sorry, I can't paint this," Amelia pushed the photo back.
Leila raised an eyebrow. "Why? You're supposed to be the most talented painter online, but you can't handle this? Maybe that reputation is self-proclaimed."
"Are you that bored?" Amelia stood up, gesturing for her to leave. "Please leave."
Leila was stunned for a moment. "Oh, come on, are you kicking me out? I'll pay you more."
Before Leila could finish her sentence, Amelia's phone rang. Seeing it was a call from Dora, Amelia immediately got nervous, declined the call, and then turned to Leila. "Leave, or I'll call security."
Leila shot her a reluctant glare but turned and left. Amelia closed the door and called Dora back.
"Ms. Tudor, Owen is missing!" Dora's anxious voice came through the phone. It felt like a bolt of lightning struck Amelia's head.
"What do you mean, Dora? Don't rush, take your time to explain." With that, she grabbed her bag and headed out. "How could Owen go missing? Are you sure he's not just hiding somewhere in the house?"
"Olivia and I searched the house inside and out, but all we found was a note on the coffee table saying he was leaving. We don't know where he went," Dora's voice was trembling, indicating she was extremely panicked.
Amelia felt like her heart was frying in oil. She didn't notice that after she left, Leila emerged from behind the decorations at the office door.
"Owen? Who is that?" Leila looked thoughtfully at Amelia's hurried departure, full of suspicion. She had never seen Amelia so flustered.
That night, at the airport, the last flight landed, and passengers disembarked one after another. Sophia, pulling her suitcase, was texting Amelia while walking towards the airport exit. In four years, she had changed a lot. She was dressed elegantly, ready to start working at Pinecrest's top hospital.
[Amelia, I'm at the airport, come pick me up.]
She didn't notice a small figure with a smaller suitcase slipping away quickly nearby.
"Whose child is that, without an adult?" someone exclaimed.
Sophia instinctively turned around, only to see the back of a small child, looking somewhat familiar, like Owen. She didn't pay much attention, thinking Owen was safely in Zephyria. Besides, how could a child under four travel halfway across the world?
"Don't worry, Owen is very capable," Amelia sighed later. "He's likely already left the airport."
