Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Leila's face went stiff. and her eyes got all teary. "Chris, please, don't be like this. You're my fiance. How can you keep being so wrapped up in work and ignoring me? If you keep treating me like this. I'm gonna get depressed. Don't you care about me at all?"

Tears started to roll down her cheeks.

Chris's face showed a flicker of impatience. "I don't have time."

"Even Ms. White will be there. Despite being busy, she managed to paint for me.. Could you please just show up for a bit?" Leila tried a different approach.

To her surprise. Chris hesitated and relented. "I'll check my schedule."

He had just flat-out refused, but after she mentioned Bella, he changed his tune instantly.

Leila was so mad she clenched her teeth.

She couldn't help but blame Amelia even more.

'But it doesn't matter,' she thought. 'On the day of the concert, everything will be sorted out.'

In the morning, Amelia and Sophia took Owen to kindergarten together. It was about time for him to start school.

"Goodbye, Mommy," Owen said, carrying his little backpack as he walked through the gate.

Amelia wiped her eyes.

"Time flies. It feels like just yesterday I had him, and now he's off to school,"she sighed.

Sophia sighed too. "Owen's a bit of a loner. I wonder if he'll get along with the other kids."

She pinpointed the exact concern that Amelia also had.

Owen had always been solitary, not really into playing with kids his age. When asked, he'd reluctantly say, "They'retoo childish, too boring, not interesting."

Amelia felt a bit helpless.

"It's okay. We can always talk to his teacher. She'll let us know if anything happens," Sophia reassured her.

They turned and saw Chris standing by his black SUV, watching them quietly with one hand in his pocket.

Amelia felt her heart buoy into the back of her throat. 'Damn it, why is he everywhere?

"Don't panic," Sophia said. "Let's just walk away and ignore him."

But before they could reach their car, Chris had already walked over.

"Let's talk," he said, looking at Amelia.

"Not interested." She didn't even glance at him. "Please move."

"Do you dare say that child has nothing to do with you, Amelia? What are you trying to do?" Chris grabbed Amelia's wrist tightly, and no matter how much she struggled, it was useless.

"Of course, he has something to do with me." Amelia sneered."I acknowledged that child as my godson. Is that not allowed?"

Sophia quickly added. "That's right. My son likes to draw and hit it off with Ms. White. What's wrong with that?"

"Impossible!" Chris gritted his teeth, staring into Amelia's eyes, not missing any hint of emotion.

"What's impossible? You think he's your son? That's ridiculous." Amelia laughed in anger. "Or do you think I'm Amelia, that I didn't die four years ago, and I secretly had your baby, hid for a few years, and then brought him back without acknowledging you? Chris, if that's the case, what would be my motive? What would I gain?"

She made a good point. It didn't make sense.

She coldly shook off Chris's hand. "Mr. Spencer, please stay away from us and stop being crazy."

They drove away.

"I still think it's dangerous. How about we send Owen away?" Sophia sighed.

Amelia shook her head, "No, that would just make them more suspicious."

All she could do now was keep the secret, no matter what.

And she had toreach her goal as soon as possible.

Time flew by, and soon it was the day of Leila's concert.

Amelia showed up with Lucius, and out of the blue, Sophia and Owen were there too.

"I couldn't resist your son. He insisted on coming, saying his classmates would be here too." Sophia said, spreading her hands, looking a bit helpless.

Owen nodded seriously, "Yeah. Mommy, my classmate's name is Raymond Spencer. We became friends."

Raymond Spencer? Amelia didn't remember anyone by that name.

"Raymond is a relative of Dad's brother and also related to Chris," Lucius explained.

"Since we're all here, let's go in together. There are a lot of people around, and we need to keep a close eye on the kid. Besides, Chris might not even show up," he added.

The concert was at this fancy opera house, with luxury cars parked outside and celebrities and wealthy businessmen everywhere. When Lucius and Amelia arrived, many people who usually only appeared in financial news came over to greet them.

She hadn't anticipated these people would be supportive of Leila. Or rather.Chris was really pulling out all the stops for her, inviting so many big shots to back her up.

Inside the venue, more than half the seats were already filled.

No sooner had Amelia and Sophia taken their seats than Owen disappeared in the blink of an eye.

"Owen might have gone to the bathroom. He mentioned it while we were in the car," Sophia said, taking out a small mirror to touch up her lipstick."I wonder if I'll meet any handsome guys later and have a little romance."

Amelia was at a loss whether to laugh or cry, Whats so great about romance? At best, it's minor troubles, at worst, it could cost you half your life."

"Don't be so pessimistic. Aren't you doing well now, with a son and a

daughter?" Sophia smiled.

Amelia fell silent and didn't respond.

Meanwhile. Owen and Raymond had sneaked backstage.

Raymond was smaller than Owen, but he didn't slow Owen down. They quickly avoided the crowd and hid in the dressing room behind thick curtains.

After a while, Leila came in, looking at herself in the mirror, thinking she looked perfect.

"Chris, why aren't you here yet? It's about tostart," she called Chris."

Anyone else can be absent, but not you. You are my spiritual support, you know?"

"I'm on my way," Chris's voice was as indifferent as ever on the phone.

"Okay, love you," Leila immediately perked up.

She picked up the painting next to her and examined it carefully.

"That bitch's painting is nothing special. She even calls herself a great artist, what a joke, shameless and disgusting!" Leila sneered and casually threw the painting on the sofa.

"If it weren't useful, I wouldn't even care." She twisted her waist and adjusted her dress, ready to go on stage.

The dress she was wearing had been ordered three months in advance.with over eight thousand diamonds meticulously embedded. It was not only a rare perfect dress but also a valuable piece of art.

She could already imagine the shock o people's faces when she appeared

in this dress.

Unexpectedly, a small figure rushed out at that moment,so fast and strong that it knocked her to the ground.
