Chapter 96: Chapter 96

Amelia didn't even bat an eye. "Sure, just send it straight to my gallery."

Diana was irritated by how chill Amelia was and stepped right in front of her. "Who the hell are you?"

Everyone was thinking the same thing.

But no one had the guts to ask.

After all, if she really was Amelia, that would be terrifying.

"Sorry, I gotta bounce." Amelia glanced at her watch. "Mrs.Spencer,I have no time or energy to waste on you."

"Your silence says it all-you're Amelia," Diana said firmly, just like she always did.

Amelia turned to look at her. "Speak for yourself."

Four days later, Amelia got an invitation, hand-delivered by Leila.

At that time, Amelia was downstairs showing some paintings to an overseas buyer when Leila walked in, all dressed up and smiling like a lady.

By the time Amelia had seen off the buyer, Leila was already getting impatient waiting nearby.

"Ms. White's paintings are truly valuable. Just a few hours of random painting and some chit-chat, and you can sell it for four million dollars."

"Thanks for the compliment." Ameia sat down casually. "Ms. Ross isn't bad either. Just get someone to ghostwrite a song, and the money you

make could last an ordinary person several lifetimes."

Leila's face turned red with anger. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Amelia raised an eyebrow and smiled. "What brings you here today? Don't tell me you came just to argue with me."

Leila suppressed her anger and pulled out a sapphire blue invitation from her expensive designer bag. The embossed design on it was quite unique.

Amelia opened it casually and saw a photo of a couple printed on it.

To be fair, Leila and Chris made a good match when it came to looks.

Amelia smiled. "I'll play it by ear."

Leila said,"Ms. White, you should come. Otherwise, I'll think you really are Amelia."

After Leila left, Amnelia took the invitation upstairs and tossed it to Chris, who was sitting on the couch playing video games on a big screen.

"Your fiancée came to provoke me. What do you think about that?" She crossed her arms, her tone a bit impatient.

Chris picked up the invitation, glanced at it, and tossed it into the trash."Ignore her."

Amelia sneered inwardly. He was about to get engaged, yet he said to ignore Leila. What did it mean that he kept coming over and hanging around her place?

"Wait, are you mad?" Chris turned off the game and pulled her into his arms, a smile playing on his lips. "She's just a prop. She doesn't affect your status. What are you afraid of?"

Amelia scoffed. "Status? What status? And why does Mr. Spencer think I would accept the so-called status you're offering?"

"You won't accept it?" Chris looked at her helplessly. "Fine, then. You can give me a title. I won't mind."

"Go away." Amelia pushed him away irritably.

She didn't know why, but Leila's provocation had never bothered her before. Today, though, it really got under her skin.

"Just don't go. There's no need to get mad at me because of her." Chris stood up. trying to hug her, but she dodged him swiftly. He stretched out his legs to block her path. "Don't be like this. Come here."

Amelia grabbed his chin and pushed him away forcefully. "I'm tired and I'm off work. Stay if you want."

Soon, it was the day of Leila and Chris's engagement.

That day, Amelia invited Sophia, Owen, and her assistant Wendy over for dinner.

"Cheers." They all raised their glasses, clinking them together in a casual toast as they enjoyed a simple dinner together.

"Mom, try this fish. It's really good." With Wendy around, Owen called Sophia "Mom."

Sophia ruffled Owen's hair. "Thank you, my sweetie."

If he kept being this adorable and sweet to her, she might actually want to have a child.

"Bella, you don't look very happy." Owen noticed Amelia's expression and

gave her a piece of rib. "You should eat more. You and Mom are both too skinny. It's not healthy."

Amelia was slightly taken aback, then smiled.

Even though the people she cherished were around her today, she still felt an emptiness inside.

"I'll go get some drinks from the kitchen." She stood up, and Sophia followed her.

"Are you upset because of Chris?" Sophia asked bluntly.

Amelia had just opened the fridge when her back stiffened. She waved her hand with a smile. "No, it's nothing."

"I feel like something's off with you." Sophia sighed. "Ever since you came back from abroad, you haven't been yourself. Don't tell me you've actually fallen for Chris."

Amelia was about to respond when the doorbell rang.

Owen ran to open the door, only to see a pair of long legs.

Looking up, he saw a strikingly handsome face-his bastard dad.

Owen frowned. "What are you doing here? You're not welcome."

Chris quietly studied Owen, finding his features increasingly familiar.

"Oh, what are you doing here?" He reached out to pat Owen's shoulder, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

Owen glared at him, gritting his teeth. "None of your business."

He had to stand firmly by his mom's side, protect her, and reject this unfit father.

"Chris?" Amelia walked out, her expression complicated upon seeing Chris.

"Is the engagement party over already?"

Chris raised an eyebrow at her, then pushed past Owen and stepped inside.

Owen didn't want to let him have his way and tried to trip him. Chris's face darkened. "Brat, move, I donI't want to hit a kid."

As he spoke, he caught the aroma of the food and reckoned he had arrived just in time to join them.

"We're having dinner and didn't prepare any for you. Please leave."Amelia pushed Owen towards Sophia and turned to the living room.

Chris, however, made himself at home. "I'm hungry too. I'll just make do with whatever's here."

"No way." Amelia was furious. "You should be where you fit in."

"This is where I fit in," Chris smirked, looking at Amelia's angry face with appreciation, suddenly reminded of the shocking performance she had given him that night.

Amelia was a woman of many faces.

Good, very good. He liked her even more.

"Please leave." Owen stepped forward, standing in front of his mom. "It's rude to barge into someone else's home, especially when none of us welcome you."

Though he was small, he had an inexplicable presence. Every move and

word carried a maturity beyond his years, faintly reminiscent of Chris.
