Chapter 102: Chapter 102

"Be at The French Laundry by eleven sharp. I've already reserved a table."

"Got it, Grandma Blanche."

"Don't forget to bring Milo. Studying is exhausting—he needs proper nutrition."

Jenna Roland held her phone, her lips curling into an involuntary smile. Grandma Blanche's concern warmed her heart.

She ended the call and stared absently out the window.

Who would've thought she'd end up married to a man like Ethan Roscente? Or that she'd find such warmth in Grandma Blanche's family?

Losing her parents young, enduring her uncle's cruelty—she'd known nothing but cold shoulders growing up.

Meeting Ethan and Grandma Blanche's family was the first time she'd truly experienced what home felt like.

Shaking off her thoughts, Jenna headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

She applied light makeup and slipped into a pastel dress. The girl in the mirror glowed with vitality, her eyes bright.

Grabbing her purse, she hailed a cab straight to The French Laundry.

She texted Milo to meet her there after class. Her younger brother was still in lectures and didn't reply.

Thirty minutes later, the taxi pulled up outside the restaurant.

Jenna scanned the QR code to pay, then dialed Grandma Blanche's number after stepping out.

"Grandma, I'm here. Where are you?"

"On our way. Just give my name and wait in the private room."

"Okay."

She hung up but decided to wait outside. Sitting alone in a private room sounded unbearably dull.

Ten minutes later, a sleek black luxury sedan glided into view.

Jenna glanced at it. That eight-figure vehicle definitely wasn't Grandma Blanche's ride.

Little did she know, Grandma Blanche and Grandpa Harrison Roscente were inside.

"That girl! I told her to wait inside," Grandma Blanche fretted, slapping her knee. "Now the jig's up."

Grandpa Harrison acted fast. "Zhang, pull over at the next intersection."

The car silently turned into an alley.

"We need to change the emblem," Grandpa Harrison muttered as they walked. "This hiding routine is getting old."

Grandma Blanche brightened. "Brilliant idea. We'll have our son handle it."

They strolled casually toward the restaurant like any elderly couple out for a walk.

"Grandma! Grandpa!" Jenna hurried over. "Why are you coming from that direction?"

Grandpa Harrison waved dismissively. "Don't ask. That driver insisted he couldn't stop here—made us walk halfway across town."
