Ethan cleared his throat, his fingers tapping lightly on the table.
"I know a renowned surgical specialist. Perhaps he could perform your brother's operation."
Jenna continued washing dishes, water cascading over the plates.
"The main issue isn't finding a doctor. It's the surgery fees."
Ethan's gaze flickered. "I can lend you the money."
"Don't joke." Jenna shook water droplets from her hands. "You just bought a new car and this house. Where would you get spare cash?"
She turned to place a bowl in the cabinet, her tone firm.
"Even if you had it, I wouldn't dare borrow."
Ethan frowned. "Why not?"
"Tens of thousands isn't small change." Jenna dried her hands. "I don't want that kind of pressure."
Ethan's voice lowered. "So you'll keep working at the club?"
"Yes." Jenna nodded. "The money's good there. A few more months should cover it."
Ethan fell silent. After a long look at her, he turned and left.
When Jenna finished cleaning the kitchen, only Grandma Blanche and Milo remained in the living room.
"Mr. Roscente went to the office," Grandma Blanche said cheerfully.
Jenna sent her brother to rest and chatted with the elderly woman.
At 3 PM, Jenna woke from her nap.
She rushed out to run errands, then returned to clean the apartment.
By the time she finished makeup and changed clothes, her shift was about to start.
"I'm leaving," she called out.
At Studio 54's entrance, Stella grabbed her arm.
"Sophia got fired!" Stella whispered. "Heard she had a huge fight with the boss."
Jenna paused. "When?"
"Two days ago." Stella leaned closer. "I bet it's about that last incident."
In the dressing room, Jenna changed while speaking. "Someone followed me the other night."
Stella froze, forgetting to change.
"What happened? Did you see their face?"
"Too dark. Just noticed a black cap." Jenna buttoned her top. "I think Sophia sent them."
Stella gasped, her fingers trembling slightly.
