Chapter 144: Chapter 144

Jenna Roland shook her head lightly. "Only Mr. Valentine and his friend are here."

"Which private room?"

"309."

Tristan Ashcroft nodded and instructed Jenna to fetch the wine before heading straight to Room 309.

He pushed the door open to find Gavin Valentine lounging on the sofa, legs crossed. Spotting Tristan, Gavin grinned. "Boss Ashcroft, long time no see!"

Tristan took a seat beside him. "No need for formalities."

"Shouldn't I call you 'boss' in your own club?" Gavin swirled his wine glass.

Tristan chuckled. "Suit yourself."

Gavin's smile suddenly faded as he turned serious. "Mr. Roscente has instructed that all our expenses here go on his tab."

"I know. His assistant called this morning."

Gavin narrowed his eyes. "Miss Roland is Mr. Roscente's most cherished person. If anything happens to her here..."

"Most cherished?" Tristan frowned. "Are they together?"

Gavin smirked meaningfully. "That's unclear. But Mr. Roscente has been particularly attentive to her lately. You understand."

Tristan's gaze shifted to the two unfamiliar faces in the room. "And these gentlemen?"

"My bodyguards," Gavin said casually. "Here specifically to protect Miss Roland."

Tristan's heart skipped a beat. Sending bodyguards? Ethan Roscente must truly value Jenna.

Just then, Jenna entered with the wine.

The conversation in the room halted abruptly.

Gavin smoothly changed the subject. "Business has been good lately, Boss Ashcroft?"

"Not bad." But Tristan's eyes remained fixed on Jenna.

There was something undeniably special about her—not just her beauty, but her poised demeanor. No wonder even someone like Ethan Roscente treated her differently.

Jenna expertly poured the wine and raised her glass. "Mr. Valentine, Mr. Lefèvre, Mr. Abendroth, a toast to your enjoyment."

She downed the drink in one go, exchanged a few pleasantries, then turned to leave.
