Chapter 156: Chapter 156

Jenna Roland lifted her face, gazing earnestly at Ethan Roscente. "We're already married. If you lie to me, you'll be implicated too. Grandma Blanche said you're a decent man, just a bit cold. I don't think you'd deceive me."

Ethan's brows furrowed slightly. "What if I really did?"

Jenna pressed her lips together, thinking for a moment. "I know Officer Liam Hill. If you trick me, I'll call the police."

Ethan froze momentarily before chuckling lowly.

He rubbed his temples.

Her naivety was almost laughable.

If he were truly a con artist, what good would calling the police do?

Yet her sincerity inexplicably moved him.

Ethan picked up a towel to dry his hands, then turned to face Jenna. "Keep the money for yourself. Since you've run a fruit shop before, start a small business. For your brother's sake, you need to build a better life."

"Okay." Jenna nodded. "The dishes are done. You should head to work. I'll clean up the kitchen."

"Mm."

Without another word, Ethan walked away.

Exiting the residential area, he strode directly toward a black Audi parked by the curb.

Once inside, he dialed Justin Kemnis.

"Come to my place tomorrow at noon," Ethan said, his voice deep. "Only ask about her family background and her brother's condition. Don't pry into anything else."

"Jenna actually married you?" Justin's shock was palpable through the phone.

He still hadn't recovered from the news since hearing it yesterday.

"Yes." Ethan lit a cigarette and took a slow drag. "Not a word about my identity."

"You're hiding who you are to marry her?" Justin sounded incredulous. "With your status, you could easily wed some socialite. How could you—"

How could he choose Jenna?

Blame his grandparents for that.

If not for their threats and coercion, he'd never have married this ordinary woman.

Ethan had no interest in elaborating. "Just do as I say."

"Marrying Jenna... does that mean you've moved on from Yvonne Sherwood?"

Ethan's gaze turned icy. "You're talking too much."

Justin forced a dry laugh. "Understood. I won't mess this up."

After hanging up, Ethan texted his address to Justin.

Stubbing out the half-smoked cigarette, he started the engine and drove toward HM Group.
