Chapter 181: Chapter 181

Jenna Roland snapped back to reality and strode toward Ethan Roscente, a faint smile playing on her lips.

"Mr. Roscente, what a coincidence."

Ethan's gaze flickered past her to the Blue Bottle Coffee sign behind her, his brow furrowing slightly.

"Shouldn't you be at the club at this hour?"

She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"My uncle seized the orchard my parents left me. I just finished meeting with my lawyer."

"Hugo Valence?"

A subtle shift crossed Ethan's eyes.

Jenna's eyes widened in surprise.

"You know Attorney Valence?"

His expression smoothed back into neutrality.

"We've crossed paths once."

He paused.

"Strong case?"

She studied the impeccably dressed man before her—his tailored suit, the perfectly knotted tie.

"It depends on proving ownership of the orchard."

Suddenly realizing something, she hesitated.

"Are you here for..."

Ethan glanced at his Patek Philippe.

"Business dinner."

Jenna took a polite step back.

"I won't keep you then."

He gave a curt nod.

Turning, she walked toward her parked e-bike and swung her leg over the seat with practiced ease.

As she started the engine, the rearview mirror still reflected his tall, unmoving figure.

......

Wind roared past her ears.

Yet Jenna's thoughts drifted back to that car accident three years ago.

The police had ruled it an accident.

But her instincts screamed otherwise.

Her parents had been kind souls who never made enemies.

Who could have—

Her phone's ringtone shattered the memory.

"Hey sis, can I sleep over at Ryan's tonight?"

She braked to a stop.

"Don't forget to buy the cake."

"I've got allowance!"

Checking the time, she quickened her pace toward Studio 54.

Neon lights already pulsed against the twilight.
