Chapter 279: Chapter 279

Fiona Roland had long studied Jenna Roland's habits. She knew Jenna always ordered mango pudding as dessert whenever she dined at Mr. Chow.

This was her carefully planned first move.

If this failed, she had an even more ruthless backup plan.

As a last resort, she would simply drug Jenna. Without audio or video evidence, Jenna couldn't prove anything even if she went to the police.

When Jenna returned from the restroom, her expression had visibly relaxed.

She had secretly called Attorney Hugo Valence under the pretense of using the bathroom to confirm contract details. He assured her the orchard would legally become hers once the documents were signed and notarized.

"Give me the keys." Jenna sat down and extended her hand. "The ones to the orchard's pump house and fertilizer storage."

Victor Roland slowly unclipped the keychain from his belt, picking out two keys before tossing them onto the table.

Fiona smoothly slid an exquisite mango pudding toward Jenna. "Try this. It's their signature dessert."

Jenna glanced at the surveillance camera in the ceiling corner and smirked. "You didn't drug this, did you?"

Fiona's smile froze momentarily before she laughed. "There are cameras everywhere. Drugging you here would be suicidal. I have no intention of going back to prison."

Jenna considered this reasonable and took a few bites with her spoon. She pocketed the keys and stood to leave.

"Need a ride?" Jason Roland asked with feigned concern.

"A fox offering condolences to a chicken." Jenna scoffed. "I have my own transportation."

She strode out without looking back.

By the time Victor finished paying the bill and the three hurried outside, they found Jenna slumped over her e-bike's handlebars.

"What's wrong? Not feeling well?" Fiona pretended to sound worried.

Jenna's vision spun as her limbs turned to lead. She struggled to lift her head but found even this simple movement impossible.

"Your mother had hypoglycemia. Maybe you inherited it?" Victor remarked pointedly.

Jenna's stomach dropped. She hadn't brought any candy, but she'd never experienced symptoms like this before.
