Chapter 297: Chapter 297

"Jenna, have you lost your mind?" Victor Roland's furious voice crackled through the phone. "I handed you the contract and keys myself. You lost them, and now you're blaming me?"

Jenna's grip on the phone turned her knuckles white.

"Stop playing dumb!" Her voice trembled. "I know exactly what you did while I was unconscious. Victor, aren't you afraid of karma?"

"You insolent brat!" he roared. "I'm your uncle! How dare you speak to me like this?"

"Uncle?" Jenna let out a bitter laugh. "After what you've done, you don't deserve that title. Heaven sees everything. You'll pay for this."

She slammed the phone down, her chest heaving.

"What did he say?" Ethan Roscente kept his eyes on the road, hands steady on the wheel.

"Denied everything." Jenna clenched her jaw. "I never want to see them again. Or else..."

Her nails dug into her palms.

Ethan glanced at her. "You're just going to let it go?"

"What else can I do?" She rubbed her temples wearily. "That man has powerful connections. I don't want to drag you into this."

She turned to watch the blur of passing scenery, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Thank you for saving me..."

Ethan simply gave a quiet "Hmm" in response.

As they entered the city, he finally spoke. "Where to?"

"Home." Jenna closed her eyes. "I'm exhausted."

The sunlight stung her eyes, intensifying her dizziness.

When the car stopped at Beverly Hills, Jenna's steps were unsteady as she got out. Ethan waited until she disappeared into the complex before driving toward his company.

The black sedan pulled up in front of HM Group's towering headquarters.

The receptionist hurried forward as soon as Ethan entered the lobby. "Mr. Roscente, Deputy Mayor Ho is waiting in your office."

Without breaking stride, he headed straight for the private elevator.

Inside the office, Deputy Mayor Ho Hongtian sat perfectly postured on the sofa. His crisp white shirt and immaculate tie matched the professional smile on his face. A female secretary stood behind him.

At the sound of the door opening, Ho rose to his feet.
