Jenna Roland requested a room transfer first thing in the morning. She wanted to cut all ties with Lucien Valois.
The general wards were fully occupied. Only two VIP rooms remained available.
With no other choice, Jenna moved to the VIP ward. To avoid Lucien's harassment, she specifically instructed the doctor not to disclose her whereabouts.
The doctor readily agreed. He immediately called a staff meeting, emphasizing the need for confidentiality regarding Milo Roland's transfer.
The night before, Director Matthew Macmillan had personally visited the department. The CEO of HM Group had called, requesting special care for Milo.
With the director's orders, the doctor took extra precautions. He repeatedly reminded the nurses to keep their lips sealed.
A single word from someone powerful could indeed eliminate troubles and secure privileges.
The nurses nodded in agreement before returning to their stations.
......
Shortly after Milo was transferred upstairs, Lucien Valois came looking for Jenna.
He wasn't there to visit his grandmother. His sole purpose was to track Jenna down.
When he arrived at her former room, he found another patient occupying it.
Lucien's face darkened instantly.
He marched to the nurses' station and demanded coldly, "Where's the patient from Bed 59?"
The nurse on duty looked up blankly. "I don't know."
A flash of anger crossed his eyes. "You work here. How can you not know a patient's whereabouts?"
The nurse shrugged helplessly. "Tracking patients isn't part of my job description."
He questioned several other nurses, but all gave the same vague answers. Some speculated she had been discharged, while others guessed she transferred hospitals.
Lucien refused to believe Jenna would leave. Just yesterday, he'd noticed the absence of IV equipment in her room.
Frustrated, he barged into the doctor's office.
Only Simon Macmillan, Milo's attending physician, was present.
Dr. Simon was the one who'd instructed the nurses to stay silent. Facing Lucien's interrogation, he answered calmly, "The patient has been discharged."
Without Jenna's contact information, Lucien couldn't verify the claim immediately.
He narrowed his eyes dangerously. "Do you know who I am?"
Dr. Simon shook his head. "No."
Lucien smirked. "My father is Mayor Vincent Valois. If I find out you're lying, you'll never work in Los Angeles again."
Dr. Simon's heart skipped a beat. He hadn't expected such influential connections.
Then again, plenty of people falsely claimed powerful backgrounds these days. How could he be sure this wasn't a bluff?
