Chapter 393: Chapter 393

Two hours later, Liam Hill called.

"The surgery is done. He's in the room next to Ryan's," Liam's steady voice came through the phone.

Jenna hung up and checked that Ryan was asleep before quietly stepping out.

The sharp scent of disinfectant hit her as she pushed open the neighboring door.

Liam stood by the bed. "How's Ryan?" he asked in a low voice.

"Fine." Jenna's gaze shifted to the patient. "And him?"

The man on the bed was awake, his face dark with fury.

When he saw Jenna, he thrashed violently, hatred burning in his eyes.

"You bitch! This isn't over!" he snarled through gritted teeth.

Jenna took two calm steps forward.

"Threatening someone in front of an officer?" She turned to Liam. "Officer Hill, what's the penalty for intimidation?"

"Detention," Liam replied coldly.

Jenna smirked. "Had to ruin your own life by trashing my stall. Got a death wish?"

Liam pulled out his notepad. "Name. Why did you vandalize the stall?"

The man turned his head away defiantly.

Only when Liam flashed his badge and warned him about obstructing justice did the man reluctantly speak.

"Leo Lombardi." He glared at Jenna. "She got my mom arrested and ruined my wife's business!"

Jenna's pupils contracted.

Lydia Lombardi's son.

No wonder he came after her.

Leo kept shouting, "These injuries are from those vendors! Arrest them!"

Liam shut his notepad. "Evidence?"

Leo froze, then exploded. "What evidence? You think she did this to me?"

"Evidence is required for charges," Liam said flatly. "No evidence, no case."

Leo tried to sit up but was pinned by his leg cast.

"Why won't you believe me?" he screamed hysterically.

Liam remained unmoved. "The law requires proof. Without it, anyone could accuse anyone."

Jenna cut in smoothly, "You're paying Ryan's medical bills."

"Never!" Leo's face twisted. "If he hadn't interfered—"

Jenna ignored him, turning to Liam. "Officer Hill, I'll leave the compensation matter to you."

Back in Ryan's room, she called Milo.

After a brief update, she hurried back to the night market.

Tanya and the others immediately surrounded her.

"Fractures and internal bleeding," Jenna said calmly. "But he brought it on himself."

The fruit vendor exhaled in relief. "You didn't mention us, right?"

"Don't worry." Jenna smiled slightly. "This stays between us."

The vendors finally relaxed.
