Jenna Roland ended the call and turned the steering wheel toward Beverly Hills.
A crowd had already gathered at the gated entrance. Vincent Roland stood guard with several bodyguards, while Sylvia Savigny and Stella Laurent stood among them, their expressions tense.
She rolled down the window and motioned for them to get in.
The unremarkable minivan had just enough space for everyone.
"Where are we going?" Sylvia asked the moment she settled into her seat.
Jenna pressed the accelerator, her gaze fixed on the road ahead. "To see Yvonne Valois."
The car fell silent.
Stella's fingers twisted together unconsciously. "Why now? Our plan hasn't even started yet."
"She requested a meeting." Jenna's voice was eerily calm. "Said she wanted to apologize for what happened before and discuss Ethan."
Sylvia let out a cold laugh. "Apologize? She's been trying to kill me."
"That's why I brought you all and Vincent." Jenna glanced in the rearview mirror. "No matter what tricks she has, we have the numbers."
Tension thickened in the air. No one spoke again.
The sound of tires rolling over asphalt was unnervingly loud.
The café's glass door swung open with a chime of bells.
By the window sat an elegant woman stirring her coffee with deliberate slowness.
Jenna narrowed her eyes, instantly recognizing the figure she'd once seen at the hospital.
Yvonne looked up with a gentle smile.
The next second, Sylvia lunged forward.
"You murderer!" Sylvia's hands clamped around Yvonne's throat, nails digging deep into her skin.
Yvonne didn't resist, her face gradually turning blue.
"Stop!" Jenna and Stella rushed to pull Sylvia's hands away by force.
Sylvia heaved ragged breaths, her eyes burning with hatred. "I should've strangled you to death!"
Yvonne coughed, rubbing her neck, yet that unsettling smile never faded.
"You left me to die under that bridge. Then you came to the hospital to finish the job." Sylvia's voice shook. "What's this act about now?"
Other patrons turned to stare. A waiter hesitated, unsure whether to call the police.
Vincent gave a sharp look, and two bodyguards immediately blocked the exit.
Jenna gripped Sylvia's shoulder, her icy gaze fixed on Yvonne. "You'd better have a damn good reason for this performance today."
