Ethan's fingers tightened around his phone.
Milo's words sent a chill down his spine.
If Milo knew, then Jenna must have found out too...
"Where's your sister now? Is she okay?"
"She's furious. She thinks you're cheating on her with that woman. Told me to stay at the hotel while she looks for a new place. Seriously, Ethan, who is she? You'd better explain fast, or my sister will file for divorce within three days!"
Ethan massaged his temples, his voice low. "It's Yvonne Sherwood. My ex. She's been abroad for years and just returned."
"Don't tell me—go fix things with Jenna. Class is starting. Bye."
Ethan immediately dialed Jenna's number.
The first call went straight to voicemail.
She picked up on the second try.
"What?" Her voice was icy.
"Let me explain. The woman at the café was Yvonne. She came back unexpectedly, claiming she had to tell me the truth about why she left. She also asked me to help her find a place to stay."
"Ah, your old flame. Did you say yes?"
"No. I knew you wouldn't like it, so I refused. The work emergency was real—she called me afterward." He paused. "I just sent you the call log."
Jenna opened the screenshot.
The timestamp showed the call came after she'd ordered takeout.
She glanced at the suitcase in the passenger seat and scoffed. "And you still went to see her?"
That woman was his first love.
What man could resist?
"She brought a child with her—"
"What?" Jenna's heart lurched. "Don't tell me it's yours."
"It's not. She had the baby overseas with someone else. The guy abandoned her. The kid's four now, and she wants to enroll him in preschool here. She asked for my help." His voice turned firm. "Besides, the past doesn't matter anymore. You're the only one I love."
Jenna exhaled in relief.
"Next time, I'm coming with you."
"Deal."
After hanging up, she grabbed her luggage and stepped out of the car.
That bastard made her pack up for nothing.
Thank God Ethan wasn't home.
If he'd seen her fleeing like some jilted wife...
Just the thought made her cringe.
