Ethan Roscente hadn't slept for two full days outside the ICU. He couldn't bring himself to tell Grandma Blanche the truth, insisting over the phone that Jenna Roland was recovering well.

When Jenna was wheeled out of intensive care, she looked gaunt, her face as pale as parchment. Weakly lying on the hospital bed, she felt Ethan immediately grasp her hand, pressing a trembling kiss to her knuckles.

"Darling..." His voice cracked, eyes bloodshot. "If anything happened to you, I wouldn't want to live either."

Jenna forced a weak smile, her voice hoarse. "Our parents are watching over me from heaven. How's the baby?"

She should've been discharged long ago, but nearly died from postpartum hemorrhage. The memory of Vanessa Galatea's twisted face flashed in her mind, igniting fury in Jenna's eyes.

"It was Vanessa." She gritted her teeth. "When Stella went to get food, she barged in and pressed down on my stomach—"

Ethan's pupils constricted, a murderous aura radiating from him. He suppressed his rage, not wanting to frighten their child.

Stella gasped, covering her mouth. "It was her?!"

"I truly thought..." Jenna's tears spilled over. "I'd never see any of you again."

"Don't be afraid." Stella clasped her icy hand. "Once you recover, we'll make her pay!"

Ethan's gaze turned glacial. "No need to wait." He pulled out his phone and dialed. "Bring Vanessa to me."

Hanging up, he gently caressed Jenna's cheek. "No one who hurts you will escape justice."

His phone rang again. Grandma Blanche's caller ID made him frown. "She's called over a dozen times these past two days. I kept saying you were asleep."

Jenna nodded understandingly. Answering the call, she heard Grandma Blanche's anxious voice: "Jenna dear, are you alright?"

"Grandma, I just woke up." Jenna summoned her strength. "Just feeling extra sleepy. Sorry for worrying you."

"Thank goodness! Rest well then."

After hanging up, Ethan scoffed. "She didn't even ask about me once."

Jenna chuckled weakly. "I just had a baby. Cut me some slack."

He playfully pinched her nose. "Fair enough."
