Chapter 72: Chapter 72

Milo's bowl contained just a single fried egg.

"Why didn't you make two?" Jenna asked from the dining table.

Milo stirred his noodles without looking up. "Haven't had much appetite lately."

Jenna frowned. There were still two cartons of eggs in the fridge.

She didn't press further and began eating her noodles.

Halfway through the meal, Milo suddenly raised his head. "Sis, are you really going to stay married to Ethan?"

That man always wore an icy expression, his gaze perpetually distant.

Jenna set down her chopsticks, a faint smile touching her lips. "Yes."

They'd only registered their marriage to claim her parents' orchard.

She never expected her uncle's family would be shameless enough to refuse returning it.

Later, Grandma Blanche arranged for her to live with Ethan.

Homeless, she had no choice but to move in with her brother.

Since they were living under his roof, she wouldn't be ungrateful.

If Ethan wanted a divorce, she'd sign the papers anytime.

But as long as they remained married, she'd fulfill her duties as his wife.

"But his personality..." Milo trailed off.

Jenna chuckled. "He doesn't abuse me or cheat. He even provides for us."

"That's already better than men who drink and gamble."

"Isn't stability what marriage is about?"

Milo clenched his fists. "Sis, I swear I'll give you a better life someday."

"Then you'd better get into a top university first." She ruffled his hair.

"With companies like HM Group, a six-figure salary isn't just a dream."

Milo had always ranked at the top of his class.

If he kept it up, his future would be limitless.

"I will." The teenager's eyes burned with determination.

Jenna smiled warmly.

After breakfast, she grabbed her bag and left for work.

......

Her e-bike stopped at a crosswalk.

As the light turned red, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up beside her.

Jenna couldn't help stealing a glance.

That car cost more than she'd earn in a lifetime.

Better stop dreaming. Being reborn as a trust fund baby would be more realistic.

Inside the car, Ethan reviewed documents.

His peripheral vision caught the familiar figure outside.

The tinted windows hid him from view.

When the light turned green, the e-bike zipped away.

Ethan's gaze followed her retreating figure.

Only when she disappeared around the corner did he lower his eyes again.
