Gavin Valentine swirled his wine glass, glancing at Jack Cardenas and the other two. "Do you know Jenna's drinking capacity? If she stays, the three of you combined wouldn't stand a chance."
Benjamin Durant's eyes widened. "Seriously?"
Gavin smirked. "Have you forgotten where she works? She wouldn't last a day without skills."
Jenna Roland picked up her glass and raised it toward Benjamin. "Mr. Durant, this one's for you."
"Cheers!" Benjamin downed it in one go.
She refilled her glass and turned to Calvin Valentine. "Mr. Valentine, my respects."
Calvin gave a slight nod before emptying his glass.
Finally, she faced Jack. "Mr. Cardenas, this is for you."
Jack narrowed his eyes. "Miss Roland, I don't like drinking while standing. Why don't you sit beside me?"
Jenna had noticed Jack's lecherous gaze the moment he entered. His shameless appraisal made her skin crawl.
Suppressing her disgust, professionalism forced her to take a seat beside him.
No one noticed Ethan Roscente's expression darkening like storm clouds. He sat motionless, radiating icy hostility.
"May I drink now?" Jenna asked, lifting her glass.
Jack grinned in satisfaction and drained his drink.
As Jenna moved to stand, her wrist was suddenly seized. She frowned at the greasy hand gripping her. "What's the meaning of this, Mr. Cardenas?"
"What's the hurry?" Jack's tone turned suggestive. "Shouldn't the entertainment wait for the guest's permission before leaving?"
Gavin's face twisted in anger. "What nonsense! She's not some escort!" His eyes darted to Ethan, whose expression had turned thunderous.
Jack scoffed. "Isn't she just a liquor promoter? Why the act?" He leaned closer to Jenna. "Name your price for tonight."
Jenna wrenched her hand free, her voice glacial. "Mr. Cardenas, control yourself."
Her peripheral vision caught Ethan—still silent, still detached, as if this scene meant nothing to him.
The promises exchanged during their marriage license signing echoed in her ears. Yet now, he simply watched.
