Chapter 234: Chapter 234

You're Home Early

"I never liked Cassandra, but this? It's disgraceful. Pure plagiarism!"

Soon, people realized they couldn't comment on Isabella's account anymore.

Some refreshed the page. Others logged out and back in. They all found the same thing. Her profile was gone.

"Wow. Isabella actually deleted her account."

"She couldn't take the pressure."

"Isabella, do you think deleting your account makes this disappear? Think again. Everyone, keep sharing! The world needs to know she's a thief!"

Meanwhile, Evelyn had already left the office. She was home, completely unaware of the online firestorm.

She trusted her supervisor and the company to manage the situation. She deliberately avoided reading the comments. Why stress if it was being handled?

In his study, Alexander was deep in thought. The sound of the front door opening startled him. It was too early.

He wheeled himself out to the foyer. "Evelyn? You're home early. Is everything alright at work?"

Concern tinged his voice.

He knew her. She was dedicated. Leaving early was unusual.

She paused, surprised he noticed so quickly.

But she didn't want to worry him. If the company was handling it, there was no need for drama.

She smiled, setting down her bag. "Yes, I finished my work early. They gave me the rest of the day off. That's all. You look shocked. Aren't you happy to see me?"

Alexander had been preoccupied with Theodore's affairs. He hadn't checked the news.

He took her words at face value. He was glad she could rest.

"You've been working too hard lately. It's good you have a break," he said softly. "Since you're free, let's go out. Get some fresh air."

Evelyn blinked, then smiled. "I'd like that."

The next morning, she was ready for their outing.

"Where are we going today?" she asked, lacing her fingers with his. "We've visited every park nearby. The mall, perhaps?"

Alexander smiled and squeezed her hand. "It's a surprise. Just trust me."

Evelyn raised an eyebrow, intrigued. She followed him across the grounds. Then she stopped dead.

A helicopter sat before them. Its sleek body gleamed in the sun. She blinked, her mind struggling to catch up.

"This..." Her voice faded. She had never been this close to a helicopter before.

She turned to Alexander, her eyes wide.

He had said they were going for a walk. A simple outing.

But he had arranged a helicopter.

Evelyn didn't know whether to laugh or shake her head. "Where are you taking me?"

Alexander only smiled, his expression playful.

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise." He reached into his pocket. He pulled out a blindfold. "Now, be good. Crouch down a little so I can put this on."

Evelyn let out a laugh. She shook her head but complied. She crouched slightly. He gently tied the blindfold over her eyes.
