Chapter 289: Chapter 288

Hearing that, Sebastian could only sigh with regret.

"Alright then."

His voice was thick with disappointment.

Evelyn, who had just breathed a quiet sigh of relief, felt her frustration spike as she lost again in the very next round.

A wave of helplessness washed over her.

She was completely bewildered by her continuous streak of bad luck tonight.

In sharp contrast, Alexander's mood improved dramatically.

His eyes sparkled with mischief, eager to hear more scandalous details.

But before he could press for more juicy gossip, Alexander cut him off.

"According to the rules, if you refuse to answer, you can just take a drink, right?" Alexander challenged, one eyebrow raised.

"Absolutely," Sebastian replied, his tone a mix of intrigue and surprise.

He then turned his curious gaze to Evelyn, his question laced with concern.

"But I thought Evelyn didn't drink?"

With a dismissive snort, Alexander responded, "She doesn't. So I'll drink for her."

He swiftly grabbed the glass in front of him and downed its contents in one decisive motion.

Evelyn was caught completely off guard.

She had no chance to protest.

She could have handled the question herself, but Alexander's protective instinct was clear.

He was determined to shield her from the alcohol, and she was equally determined not to let him drink on her account.

"Oh, come on, Alexander, that's not fair!" Sebastian burst out, annoyed that his chance for gossip had been cleverly avoided.

Alexander merely smirked, his expression one of smug satisfaction.

"I'm Evelyn's husband. It's my job to protect her," he declared proudly, his stance firm and unyielding.

Reluctantly, Sebastian backed down.

He decided not to ask any more inappropriate questions.

Provoking Alexander would only lead to his own downfall later.

The game continued, and Sebastian found himself on a terrible losing streak.

Alexander was ruthless, digging deep into Sebastian's most painful past heartaches.

"Sebastian, I heard your first girlfriend left you because you lacked experience. Is that true?"

"Sebastian, rumor has it you drowned your sorrows in the nightlife after that heartbreak. Can you confirm that?"

"Do you still think about your first love?"

With each probing question about his early romantic life, Sebastian's face turned a deeper shade of red.

His embarrassment was palpable.

Evelyn and Charlotte listened with evident delight, soaking up every scandalous detail.

"Wow, Sebastian, who knew you were such a naive young man back then?" Charlotte remarked, her laughter ringing through the room.

All eyes were on Sebastian, waiting for his answer.

Instead, he grabbed his glass and took three large gulps as a form of punishment.

With a mix of resentment and resolve, Sebastian muttered, "Just you wait, Alexander. When it's your turn to lose, I'll make you squirm!"

Alexander just laughed, his confidence unshaken.

"Then show me what you've got! Make me lose!"

The game escalated into a fierce battle between Alexander and Sebastian.

The tension was thick, drawing loud laughter and gasps from the onlookers who were thoroughly entertained.

Ultimately, it was no surprise when Sebastian suffered a resounding defeat.

After downing several glasses in quick succession, he became so drunk he crumpled to the floor, unable to stand.

Alexander, unable to hide a grin, leaned over him and taunted, "Get up, Sebastian. Keep going. Don't just lie there defeated."

Amused yet concerned, Benjamin stepped in.

Seeing Sebastian was genuinely drunk, he intervened with a chuckle.

"Alright, Alexander, that's enough. He's far past his limit; he's not faking it. We should call it a night. He's been the evening's entertainment already."

Benjamin offered a hand to help Sebastian to his feet.

"Let's go. I'll take you home."

Despite his unsteady condition, Sebastian resisted, his words slurred but determined.

"I'm not leaving! I can still outdrink Alexander!"

With a dismissive snort, Alexander retorted, "Fine. Stand up on your own, and I'll give you another round."

Evelyn watched the scene, her expression one of disbelief.

This was a side of Alexander she had never seen.

His usual calm composure was replaced by a childish competitiveness.

It was revealing.

Beneath his cool exterior was a playful, almost boyish spirit, ignited by a simple challenge.
