Chapter 391: Chapter 391

A satisfied smile curved Evelyn's lips. "I'm glad you like it. I spent a considerable amount of time perfecting that recipe."

Alexander offered a faint smile and glanced toward the thermos on the table. "It's truly excellent. I believe I could finish all of this soup."

"Please, do. It's all for you. If you enjoy it that much, I'll make more for you tomorrow," Evelyn replied, her smile widening.

His expression shifted, showing a trace of concern. "Your hand is still injured. I don't want you straining yourself."

"This soup is ideal for your recovery. I'll have the housekeeper prepare it, and I'll bring it to you tomorrow," Evelyn conceded.

This arrangement allowed him to have the soup without risking further harm to her hand.

With the matter settled, Evelyn continued feeding Alexander the chicken soup. Before long, the thermos was nearly empty.

Next door, Theodore had been anticipating Evelyn's arrival since morning. As noon came and went, she still hadn't appeared.

Growing annoyed, Theodore summoned Daniel. "Where is Evelyn? Why hasn't she come yet?"

Daniel hesitated briefly before explaining, "Sir, Ms. Rossi left early this morning but returned around ten. Since then, she's been in the room next door..."

Theodore checked the time, and his expression darkened. It was nearly one in the afternoon.

Evelyn had promised to care for him until he recovered, yet she was spending all her time with Alexander.

The more he thought about it, the more his irritation festered.

"Go and bring Evelyn here," he ordered, his voice cold. "If she's forgotten, remind her of the commitment she made to me."

"Yes, Mr. Vance." Daniel nodded and hurried out.

Upon reaching Alexander's room, he was immediately blocked by Alexander's bodyguard.

"Apologies, they are occupied. Please do not disturb them," the bodyguard stated firmly.

Undeterred, Daniel stepped forward and pushed past him. "Step aside."

Caught off guard, the bodyguard stumbled back. Disbelief washed over his face as Daniel shoved past him.

Clearly, Theodore's men were as bold as their employer.

Before the bodyguard could react, Daniel had already pushed the door open.

"Ms. Rossi!" he called out as he entered. The rich, savory aroma of chicken soup immediately enveloped him, a stark contrast to the sterile air in Theodore's room.

The warm, relaxed atmosphere shattered instantly.

Alexander's expression tightened visibly. The moment he recognized the intruder as one of Theodore's men, his annoyance intensified.

"What do you want?" he asked irritably.

Evelyn glanced up, a flicker of concern in her eyes. "Is something wrong?"

Daniel ignored their reactions and stated bluntly, "Mr. Vance is asking for you, Ms. Rossi. He wished to remind you of your promise."

Evelyn remained composed, though a spark of irritation flashed in her gaze. "I haven't forgotten my promise to Theodore. I agreed to care for him during his hospital stay. But his recovery is progressing well now. There's no necessity for me to remain constantly at his side."

She had already tended to his initial medical needs, and his healing was on track.

Furthermore, she had been visiting him daily. But with a full medical team attending to him, her presence was superfluous.

Meanwhile, as Alexander's wife, she had her own responsibilities. It was only logical for her to prioritize her time here.

After all, Theodore's recovery no longer hinged on her assistance.
