Chapter 395: Chapter 395

Daniel acted fast, summoning help immediately.

Together, they assisted Theodore out of the hospital room.

As they passed Evelyn, who stood frozen in place, Daniel shot her a look of pure hatred.

He shoved her aside roughly.

"Move out of the way!" he snarled.

The push jolted Evelyn from her stupor.

She stumbled back, her leg hitting the cold, metal frame of the hospital bed.

A sharp pain shot through her, but she ignored it.

She had to know what was happening to Theodore.

She rushed after them, her heart pounding.

In the ensuing chaos, Theodore was wheeled directly into the emergency room.

Daniel remained outside the sealed doors, his face a mask of anxiety.

Suddenly, he whirled around to face her.

His eyes burned with accusation.

"It was you!" he roared, storming toward her. "You're the one who did this to Mr. Vance!"

His fury was palpable.

If they hadn't been in a hospital, he might have attacked her right then.

Theodore had always shown her kindness.

This was her repayment? Betrayal?

Evelyn stood paralyzed, overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness.

She had applied the medicine, but the reaction was completely unexpected.

She never intended for this to happen.

"I..." she started, but Daniel cut her off viciously.

"Enough! I don't want to hear your fake apologies! I'm not Mr. Vance. I won't fall for your act. Save your excuses for when he wakes up!"

His words silenced her completely.

The following hours were pure agony.

She stood with Daniel, waiting for news from the emergency room.

With each passing minute, her anxiety grew.

She needed answers, and she needed them now.

She never meant to harm Theodore.

But until he woke up, no one would believe her.

The wait felt endless.

Finally, the light above the emergency room door switched off.

The doors opened, and the doctor emerged, his expression severe.

"How could you be so careless with a patient's care?" the doctor demanded. "How did you allow someone with malicious intent to apply poison to Mr. Vance's wounds?"

"Poison?" Daniel's eyes widened in horror.

Evelyn stiffened. "That's impossible! I used the same medicine as before when I changed Theodore's bandages! I got it from the pharmacy!"

The doctor's frown deepened. "We ran tests. His wounds were contaminated with a toxic substance. If he hadn't received immediate medical attention, he would not have survived."

Daniel's face flushed with rage. He pointed a shaking finger at Evelyn. "It was you! I always knew you were vicious! How could Mr. Vance ever have cared for someone like you?"

Panic seized Evelyn. She shook her head frantically, her hands raised. "No! It wasn't me! I had no reason to hurt Theodore! I ran out of medicine, so I went to the pharmacy. A nurse gave it to me!"

Before Daniel could respond, a nurse marched over, her face tight with anger.

"How dare you make false accusations against our staff?" the nurse snapped. "Every medication in our pharmacy is strictly regulated and tracked. There is absolutely no possibility any of it was poisoned. You are clearly trying to cover up your own terrible mistake!"
