Alexander's expression darkened instantly. "Amy, don't push your luck."
Amy remained composed, her gaze steady and unyielding.
"Your mother accused me of kidnapping my own son. Isn’t that crossing the line? If you're so concerned about boundaries, you should’ve stopped her from making reckless accusations instead of standing there like a silent puppet!"
She was determined to get an apology from Margaret.
No more would she tolerate being humiliated repeatedly.
Margaret might see her as beneath her, but today, she would have to lower her head to someone she despised.
No matter how bitter the pill was, Margaret would have to swallow it.
Escalating this situation wouldn’t benefit Blackwood Enterprises or the Blackwood family in the slightest.
Despite Margaret’s arrogance, she understood the stakes.
Today, she had no choice but to concede.
Margaret’s face twisted with barely contained fury.
For the first time, she realized Amy was no longer the meek woman who would endure insults in silence.
From now on, she would have to tread carefully around Amy.
The thought made her blood boil with resentment!
Charlotte, noticing her mother’s rage, quickly intervened before she could act rashly. "Mom, you can’t let Alexander apologize for you. If this gets out, it’ll damage both your reputations. Besides..."
She glanced at Amy. "Amy is Liam’s mother. No matter how you spin it, you were wrong."
Margaret knew this, though she desperately wanted to put Amy in her place.
She couldn’t stand Amy’s defiance!
She had even considered denying Amy’s claim as Liam’s mother when the police arrived, forcing Amy to beg for mercy.
She imagined Amy groveling, and only then would she maybe consider smoothing things over.
Instead, Amy had turned the tables, leaving Margaret with no choice but to apologize!
The humiliation was unbearable.
Once, Amy would obey her every word. Now, she was a force to be reckoned with. If provoked, Amy wouldn’t hesitate to escalate things.
While Amy had little to lose, Blackwood Enterprises and the family’s reputation could suffer irreparable damage.
Margaret clenched her jaw, finally lowering her pride.
"Amy... I apologize. I... misunderstood the situation."
Amy didn’t drag it out. "Let’s leave it at that. I hope, Margaret, you’ll think before you speak next time—unless you enjoy embarrassing the Blackwood name."
Though Margaret had apologized, Amy had no intention of forgiving her.
She wasn’t that generous.
Oliver and Liam had both woken up.
Liam had pretended to be unconscious but eventually dozed off for real.
He woke up shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The doctors confirmed he was perfectly fine.
Oliver stirred a bit later, his face pale but otherwise unharmed.
In the hospital room, Amy approached Oliver. "Oliver, what happened? How did you end up in the water?"
A flicker of panic crossed Oliver’s eyes.
He quickly looked down, avoiding her gaze. "I... I slipped. It wasn’t Liam’s fault."
Amy’s voice softened but remained firm. "Oliver, we’ve seen the security footage. You and Liam were arguing, and then... you fell in."
She crouched to his level. "You don’t have to be afraid. Just tell me the truth."
Oliver fidgeted, guilt written all over his face.
"When I came out of the restroom, I saw Liam... I ran over to ask why he was at the amusement park. You and Mr. Blackwood were searching everywhere for him."
