Chapter 258: Chapter 259

Amy Sinclair dug through her purse and produced a small vial of pills.

"These are Nathan's antidote," she announced.

Nathan Prescott grabbed the bottle from her with frantic urgency.

Alexander Blackwood's piercing gaze, cold as winter frost, locked onto her. "And Victoria's?"

Amy smiled coolly. "Ms. Langley's medication will be delivered one month after our divorce is finalized—and only once the billion-dollar settlement you promised me is securely deposited into my account."

This negotiation was nothing more than a business transaction.

Though Victoria's "illness" required long-term treatment, Amy assured Alexander that Theodore Whitmore would prepare all necessary medications in advance. She promised detailed dosage instructions and a full treatment plan. If supplies ran low, Theodore would replenish them.

But what if the treatment failed? Deceiving Alexander Blackwood had consequences. No one swindled a fortune from him and walked away unscathed.

Nathan scoffed. "You're withholding Victoria's medication now because you're afraid we'll expose your scam and you'll lose the money, aren't you?"

Amy turned to him with a mocking smirk. "Exactly. I'm also worried the divorce might not happen at all."

Nathan fell silent.

Truthfully, he had planned to claim the medication was ineffective—regardless of the truth—hoping Alexander would retaliate against Amy.

But he forgot one crucial detail: during the mandatory divorce cooling-off period, either party could back out. If Amy suddenly refused to sign, Alexander would be trapped—especially out of respect for Liam.

So the priority was ensuring the divorce went through first.

Amy met Alexander's icy stare.

"Theodore needs time to prepare the medication. Do you think life-saving drugs are that easy to make? If they were, you wouldn’t have spent years searching for specialists with no success."

Her lies flowed effortlessly, woven with just enough truth to sound convincing.

"Besides, Victoria needs to stay with Theodore a few more days. She's already lost time due to her fainting spells and hospital visits. Those days must be accounted for."

"If I give you all the medication now and she doesn’t return tomorrow, Theodore can’t continue her treatment."

Her reasoning seemed to sway them. Both men fell silent, lost in thought.

Internally, Amy reveled in the thrill of deception. No wonder Victoria loved manipulating people. Fooling these men was exhilarating.

After all, Victoria wasn’t actually sick. Amy could spin this charade however she pleased.

For days, Amy had been grinding herbs into powder—a task Victoria assumed Theodore had assigned. Little did she know, Amy was crafting her so-called "life-saving medication."

Theodore had called Amy to assist him, but he had no intention of wasting time on Victoria’s imaginary illness. Amy, having studied under him, was responsible for the entire treatment plan—dosages, schedules, everything.

Through the tedious process of handcrafting the medicine, Amy finally understood why Theodore despised fakers. The intricate steps consumed her time completely.

And yet—she couldn’t deny the satisfaction of watching them all dance to her tune.
