Chapter 290: Chapter 291

The moment Amy Sinclair spotted the two figures following Alexander Blackwood, her expression flickered with subtle disdain. "Nathan Prescott, the bootlicker, and Victoria Langley—still playing the innocent angel... What are they doing here?"

Samantha Reynolds gave a careless shrug. "Maybe they came to celebrate?"

Alexander approached swiftly, his chiseled features unreadable as always, giving nothing away.

"Did you bring everything?"

Amy nodded. "All the documents are here."

Alexander's dark, intense gaze held hers. "That's not what I meant."

Amy glanced at Victoria behind him and smiled. "I brought Ms. Langley's medication as well."

She took the bag from Samantha's hand.

"Once the paperwork is finalized and the last payment clears, this is all yours."

Amy had come prepared—Victoria's full treatment regimen, delivered with cold professionalism. Business was business, after all.

Alexander reached for the bag, but Amy pulled it just out of reach.

"Not until the paperwork is signed and the money is in my account. I don't hand things over on credit."

Alexander studied her, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Today, she wore a striking crimson dress that made her porcelain skin and elegant figure impossible to ignore. In his memory, she had always dressed modestly, blending into the background. But lately, she had transformed—vibrant, bold, like a painting splashed with vivid colors.

She was radiant.

From the start, Alexander had never wanted this divorce.

Amy had been the perfect wife, the devoted mother. Five years of marriage—even if passion had never burned between them, there was still something binding them. And then there was Liam.

He wanted to give his son the stable family he himself had never known. Deep down, he understood why Amy was insisting on this divorce.

She couldn't stand Victoria's presence in their lives.

But Victoria's life was at stake—he couldn't abandon her now.

When it came down to it, Victoria's survival mattered more than his marriage.

As for Amy...

If he truly wanted, she would never be able to leave him. Not with Liam in the picture.

Let her have her moment of defiance, he thought. Once Victoria was stable, he would fix things. He always knew how to handle Amy.

She was the mother of his child, after all. He was willing to give her another chance.

Alexander met her gaze squarely. "If you call off the divorce and the waiting period, I'll keep my word—and I'll support your career, just as I promised—"

Before he could finish, Nathan cut in sharply.

"Alexander, this woman has been exploiting your name shamelessly! Who knows how much damage she's already done? If you don't go through with the divorce now, she'll just keep taking advantage!"

Amy arched a brow, amusement playing on her lips.

"Mr. Prescott makes a fair point. I never realized how much power came with being Mrs. Blackwood—apparently, the name alone opens every door."

She stepped closer, stopping right in front of Nathan.

"Does this dress look familiar, Nathan? It's the masterpiece from your company's lead designer—this single piece cost nearly a million."

She smoothed a hand over the fabric. "First time wearing something this extravagant. You really do get what you pay for—the craftsmanship is exquisite."

Her fingers traced the intricate beading. "Every stone on this dress is a genuine diamond—flawless, top-tier. No imperfections, no compromises."

She smiled. "Just like this divorce."
