Chapter 53: Chapter 54

"Alexander, are you seriously going to convict me based on a few bystanders' words? Isn't that reckless?"

Though Alexander had investigated this time—unlike before when he blindly trusted Victoria—the results were exactly what she wanted him to see.

"Amy, what are you implying?"

Amy met his cold, distant gaze steadily. "I'm saying I didn't hit Victoria with my car, and I won't apologize. She should be the one apologizing to me."

Alexander's expression darkened. "Amy, it's just an apology. How difficult is that?"

"Easy," Amy replied, voice unwavering, "when I've actually done something wrong. But I haven't. So why should I?"

His jaw tightened. "Whether intentional or not, you hurt someone. An apology is non-negotiable."

"Except I didn't hit her. She hit me."

Alexander's patience snapped. "You're being impossible!"

Amy turned away. "Save it. I won't apologize. If you want to throw me in jail, go ahead."

"Fine. Have it your way," he said with a bitter laugh. "Don't come crying to me later."

Days passed without a word from Alexander. Clearly, he was waiting for her to cave.

Amy didn’t care.

Meanwhile, an explosive article exposing the "truth" behind Victoria’s accident went viral. Photos accompanied the damning claims, painting Amy as a calculating villain who’d tried to kill Victoria out of jealousy.

The internet erupted.

[This woman is pure evil! First, she steals him away, now she tries to murder her rival? Does she think Alexander will love her if Victoria’s gone? Delusional! A heartless witch like her deserves nothing!]

[She’s terrifying! Alexander, run! Divorce her before she turns on you next!]

[Rot in hell, Amy Sinclair!]

[Lock her up! She’s a danger to society!]

[Death penalty!]

[Agreed!]

The hate was relentless. Extremists photoshopped her obituary, leaked her number, and flooded her phone with death threats. Rational voices questioning the lack of evidence were drowned out by the mob.

Neutrality wasn’t tolerated—anyone defending her was branded a traitor.

Three days later, Amy left the hospital quietly. She hadn’t told anyone, but as she stepped outside, a furious crowd materialized, surrounding her instantly.

"Amy Sinclair! You think you can escape justice? Murderer!"
