Amy hesitated, carefully organizing her thoughts before recounting everything to Dominic in meticulous detail.
Dominic paused, considering her words carefully, then met her gaze. "You might be onto something—it's plausible. But there's also a chance Samantha is tangled up in her own troubles and deliberately keeping a low profile to avoid dragging you into it."
He leaned in slightly, his tone turning serious. "Have you thought about what happens if Alexander didn’t take Samantha? As his wife, accusing him without concrete proof could make things between you two… complicated."
Amy stiffened, caught off guard. The realization struck her—she had no real evidence, just instinct and speculation.
Dominic noticed her hesitation. "Why don’t you go home for now?" he suggested gently. "I’ll look into this for you. If Alexander isn’t involved, I’ll do everything I can to find Samantha. And if he is… I’ll make sure she’s freed."
Amy hesitated, studying him. "Why are you helping me?"
A fleeting emotion passed through Dominic’s eyes, too quick to decipher. "Alexander and I have known each other since childhood. Helping you is like helping him." He lowered his voice. "Besides… I’ve never been fond of Victoria. Sometimes I even wonder… if her illness is real."
Amy’s eyes sharpened. "You think that too?"
Dominic nodded. "But it’s just a suspicion. Without proof, it’s better left unsaid."
He exhaled. "If you want to confront Alexander, you need evidence. Right now, you don’t have any. Let me handle this. I’ll get you answers."
Amy finally relented, nodding. "Thank you, Mr. Whitmore."
Dominic smiled warmly. "Just Dominic is fine."
She returned the smile. "Alright, Dominic."
Dominic was the epitome of a gentleman—nothing like Alexander’s stern demeanor or Nathan’s casual arrogance. He was polished, composed, and always measured in his words. While others were quick to judge her, he never joined in. In fact, he often reminded Alexander to withhold judgment until all facts were clear.
Truthfully, Amy had always respected him.
Dominic spoke softly. "Go home. I’ll contact you as soon as I have news."
"Okay. I’ll go then."
After Victoria fell asleep, Alexander arranged for someone to watch over her, ensuring she wouldn’t harm herself again. Stepping into the hallway, he spotted Dominic waiting.
Alexander arched a brow. "What are you doing here?"
Dominic turned. "Did you take Amy’s friend Samantha?"
"Is that why you came?" Alexander countered.
Dominic nodded. "I spoke with Amy earlier. She told me everything."
Alexander’s expression darkened.
"Alex," Dominic said, "I know Victoria matters to you, but don’t forget Amy is your wife. You should consider her feelings."
He’d said this before, but Alexander never listened.
"If Amy finds out you took Samantha because of Victoria, it’ll devastate her. The rift between you two will be hard to mend."
Alexander remained unmoved. "Dominic, don’t let Amy fool you. Just the other day, Nathan saw her buying clothes for Liam."
