Chapter 232: Chapter 232

They remained completely unaware of William, Victoria, and the swarm of black-suited bodyguards trailing them.

Their visit to the amusement park had been scheduled for today.

The original plan included James, but Elise had taken him away unexpectedly. So, the two of them proceeded with their initial arrangement and came here. Surprisingly, they encountered Elise and James.

Victoria's gaze flickered.

James had always been reserved since childhood, never the exuberant type. He possessed a maturity that defied his tender age.

Yet, around Elise, he was transformed entirely.

Victoria glanced at William, noticing how his eyes remained fixed on the pair ahead until they disappeared into the bustling crowd.

"Let's proceed." William withdrew his gaze, his expression neutral as he looked at Victoria.

A subtle smile lingered on Victoria's lips as she walked beside William.

Surrounding them were not only bodyguards but also strategically placed reporters.

Their purpose was to provide live updates and reports on their every move.

"What ride would you prefer?" William inquired, turning to Victoria.

"Anything is fine with me."

"Something thrilling, or perhaps something more relaxed?"

"Maybe something thrilling," Victoria replied. "Opportunities like this to truly let loose are rare. I want to release some pent-up energy."

"Understood," William responded.

He led Victoria to the Extreme Thrills Zone, where they experienced numerous rides—roller coasters, the 360-degree mega swing, the drop tower, the pirate ship….

James was too young for all these intense attractions, eliminating any possibility of an accidental encounter.

Elise stayed with James in the Children's Wonderland, gently navigating a small boat across the serene lake.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

Seeing James completely absorbed in the boat ride, Elise checked her phone. A new friend request appeared on her social media.

She tapped the notification. It was from Victoria.

Elise's finger hesitated slightly.

She decided to accept the request.

"Mommy." James called out to her, his voice filled with excitement.

Elise immediately set her phone aside.

"Look, tiny fish!" James exclaimed with delight, "Over there! So many of them!"

"Let's steer the boat closer," Elise suggested.

"Okay!"

The mother and son duo were thoroughly enjoying themselves.

After the boat ride, they explored many other attractions.

The massive crowds and endlessly long lines consumed their time, and soon, evening descended.

"Mommy, I want to ride that!" James pointed enthusiastically at the giant Ferris wheel.

Elise contemplated taking James home.

She was genuinely tired, and they had only eaten a light lunch earlier. She worried James might be hungry.

But seeing his boundless energy, she couldn't bear to cut his fun short. Taking his hand, she walked toward the Ferris wheel.

The Ferris wheel was even more popular at night, with a winding, serpentine queue stretching far from its base.

They had just joined the line when someone called out to Elise.

"Ms. Scott?"

Elise turned around.

To her surprise, she saw Victoria and William.

Clearly, they were also queuing for the Ferris wheel.

Elise pressed her lips together.

What incredibly coincidental timing.

"James, what a lovely surprise," Victoria said with a warm smile.

"Oh," James responded coolly.

Victoria feigned a pout, scrunching her nose. "So aloof, just like your father. If you keep this up, no girls will like you when you're older."

"I don't need girls to like me. Having Mommy like me is enough." With that, James tightened his grip on Elise's arm.

"You little ingrate! I took care of you since you were a baby! Now that you have your Mommy, you don't want anything to do with me anymore?! Have you forgotten how I fed you and changed your diapers?! You even promised you'd take care of me when I'm old!"

Victoria pretended to be deeply hurt.
