Chapter 266: Chapter 266

Elise didn't feel anger at William's words.

Seeing the devastation covering William's body, she could clearly imagine how out of control she had been last night. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment, the heat spreading all the way to her ears.

"Just wait here. I'll go buy you some clothes," Elise said as she rose from the bed.

"Consider it compensation for last night." William felt like he had survived a battlefield last night.

Yet this woman thought a simple set of clothes would make up for everything? Well, he supposed it was acceptable. He felt grateful that Elise didn't resent him. Getting new clothes out of the deal felt like hitting the jackpot.

Elise moved to another room to change her clothes, but Elizabeth stumbled inside the moment she opened the door.

Elise jumped in surprise, while William quickly tightened the blankets around himself to avoid any exposure.

"Elizabeth?"

Elise exclaimed while catching Elizabeth, who nearly fell face-first onto the floor. Elizabeth struggled to regain her balance. "I-I wasn't eavesdropping! I was just coming to knock on your door. It's already four in the afternoon, you know? You two must have had quite the intense workout session last night. Aren't you hungry?"

Elise flushed at Elizabeth's suggestive comment. Her world had been spinning when she woke up, making hunger the last thing on her mind.

"So you're finally awake, huh? Then come out and eat. I ordered some herbal soup. I promise it will help restore your energy!" Elizabeth said with a mischievous grin.

Elise pressed her lips together.

"I need to go out for a while."

"Huh? Why?"

"I have to buy William some clothes."

Elizabeth's eyes widened dramatically; her expression clearly questioned what exactly Elise had done to William overnight.

Well, Elise had definitely done something.

Just...

Not what Elizabeth was imagining.

Elise didn't want to explain either. How could she expect others to believe something she herself found difficult to accept? So she remained silent and simply walked out of the room.

Elizabeth watched Elise's retreating figure.

Somehow, Elise seemed to be radiating a certain...alluring energy today.

Women who were thoroughly satisfied overnight typically glowed like rare beauties the next morning, right?

Elizabeth quickly rushed into the room and approached her cousin with a knowing look.

"William...You two made up, didn't you?"

She appeared even more excited than the people who had supposedly been intimate last night.

"No," William said, pulling the blankets tighter around himself.

"No?"

Elizabeth repeated in disbelief.

"That can't be! Didn't you satisfy her last night?!"

Elizabeth couldn't help but scan William from head to toe with judgmental eyes, despite him being completely covered.

"What nonsense are you thinking about, Elizabeth?!" William scolded, clearly annoyed.

"You and Elise were alone together all night, and she was drugged. What was I supposed to think?" Elizabeth exclaimed, visibly frustrated with her cousin's behavior.

William didn't offer much explanation and said impatiently, "It's really not what you're imagining."

Elizabeth swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue.

William had no patience for anyone except Elise.

If she weren't his cousin, she would have cut ties with him long ago.

"So, how was it? Was it passionate and wild-"

Elizabeth began to fantasize.

"Elizabeth York! What's wrong with you? You're too young for these thoughts!"

"Who's too young?! I'm less than six months younger than Elise! You can pursue Elise, but I can't imagine the details?"

Elizabeth shot back, clearly offended.

Then she added deliberately, "If I wanted to, I could have a child old enough to help with household chores by now!"

"Don't you dare! I'll break your legs if you try!"
