Andrew was waiting outside the detention center when Samantha stepped out.
They returned to her car, with him taking the driver's seat.
He glanced at her. "How's Elise?"
"Completely composed," Samantha replied.
"I looked into the details of her case. There are multiple points we can challenge. We just need to investigate properly and she'll be cleared. By the way, did you inform Mr. Levine that we can't post bail for Elise?"
"I couldn't reach him."
"Is he flying?"
"No. Henry Levine is keeping him detained overseas."
Samantha turned to look at Andrew directly.
"Don't give me that look." Andrew shrugged. "The old man still holds the power in that family. No matter how much influence William has, he can't defy his own grandfather."
"But we need William to properly investigate Elise's case," Samantha insisted.
"Ethan is trying to locate him. Let's hope he succeeds." Andrew sighed.
"Right," Samantha agreed.
Suddenly remembering something, she pulled out her phone and made a call.
"Samantha?"
"Elizabeth. Where are you now?"
"I was just about to board my flight back to Crestwood. I'm going crazy worrying about Elise's situation."
Samantha could feel Elizabeth's anxiety through the phone.
"That's actually what I wanted to discuss with you," Samantha said. "I'm her legal advisor now. We just met to discuss her case—"
"How is she?!" Elizabeth interrupted anxiously before Samantha could finish.
"She's holding up well, but I can't get her released on bail," Samantha explained.
"Damn it! Why not?!"
"Let me explain properly."
"Oh, sorry," Elizabeth paused, realizing she'd been too impulsive.
"There are several issues with the case, but we don't have the resources to investigate them properly. William Levine is our only hope."
"I've tried calling him. He should be returning soon."
"Actually, Andrew mentioned your grandfather has him confined overseas."
"What?!" Elizabeth exclaimed angrily.
"When you get back, find out what's happening at home and try to contact him. I have a good understanding of the case now. We just need to wait for his return to plan our next steps."
"Understood," Elizabeth said quickly. "I'm boarding now. Once I reach Crestwood, I'll go straight to Levine Manor. Wait for my update."
After Elizabeth hung up, Samantha lowered her phone and stared silently out the window.
"I have to say, I'm surprised you're so invested in Elise's case," Andrew remarked lightly.
"Every lawyer has responsibilities toward their client," Samantha replied.
"But I get the feeling you have a particularly good impression of her."
"She'd make an excellent friend."
Samantha didn't deny it.
"What is it about her, honestly?" Andrew chuckled. "She's got everyone wrapped around her finger. Even William—who usually doesn't care about women—is practically at her beck and call now."
"Don't get any ideas," Samantha warned him.
"What do you take me for?!" Andrew snapped, genuinely offended. "Do I look like I'd make a move on my friend's woman?"
Samantha almost retorted that he'd make a move on any woman, but decided against it.
Soon, they arrived outside Saunderia's office building.
