Chapter 47: Chapter 47

The hotel manager wanted to say something, but Alexander had already turned his gaze away.

"Make a list of the damaged items inside. Someone will come to handle it later," he said coldly, glancing at the few people present. "If I hear even half a word about today's incident outside, I'll hold you all accountable."

The hotel manager's face turned pale, and he quickly assured, "Don't worry,I swear on my life, it won't get out."

Alexander didn't listen, striding away with Wendy in his arms.

The hotel manager immediately sent someone to check inside.Confirming that Charles was still alive, he finally calmed his extremely tense nerves.

What the hell just happened?

He quickly issued a stern warning to the few employees who hadn't even figured out what was going on, then wiped the sweat from his forehead, secretly relieved that this storm hadn't caused more trouble at the Luminous Bay Hotel.

Meanwhile, Wendy, tightly held in Alexander's arms, was still trembling uncontrollably.

By the car, the driver was waiting. Seeing Alexander rushing over with Wendy, his face was full of surprise,

He saw Wendy curled up in Alexander's arms, sobbing, while Alexander's expression was colder than ever, yet his gentle movements as he wiped her tears were full of care.

The driver didn't dare to ask anything, silently starting the car and heading towards The Knight Villa.

By the time they got home. Wendy had calmed down a lot, gradually pulling herself out of the pit of despair and stopping her tears.

When they entered the house, Wendy tried to get dowm, but Alexander didn't allow it, carrying her straight to the bedroom upstairs and gently placing her on the bed.

He fetched the first aid kit and carefully disinfected and treated the wound on her wrist. The antiseptic stung, but Wendy just bit her lip and endured it.

After finishing with the wound, Alexander slowly removed the coat wrapped around her, revealing her torn shirt and the delicate shoulder beneath. His eyes, which had just softened a bit, darkened again.

He felt his blood freeze, anger surging in his chest, wishing he could tear Charles apart right then and there.

He reached out to help Wendy remove her dirty clothes, but she instinctively shrank back, trying to protect herself.

Alexander's breath hitched, and he forced down his rising anger, softening his voice as much as possible. "Don't be afraid. Your clothes are dirty;you need to change."

He handed her a soft long-sleeve shirt, and Wendy went to the bathroom to change.

Alexander waited outside for a long time, but shedidn't come out. His heart sank, and he opened the door.

Wendy had changed her clothes and was crouched in the corner of the bathroom.

She was unusually quiet and obedient, sitting there with wide eyes, not speaking or crying, like a doll that had lost its soul.

But seeing Wendy in such a desolate state, Alexander fet an unbearable ache in his heart.

He walked over, gently picking up the curled-up Wendy and placing her on the bed.

The bruise on her cheek, left by Charles, stood out starkly against her fair skin.

Alexander gently brushed his thumb over the bruise. "Does it hurt?"

Tears welled up in Wendy's eyes. The more softly Alexander spoke, the more the bitterness in her heart surged, and the tears fell like broken beads.

Seeing her so pitifu, Alexander thought she was still in shock.

He tightened his arms around her, his voice firm yet slightly domineering. "I'm staying right here with you. Don't worry, as long as I'm around,no one's gonna hurt you again."

Little did he know, Wendy's uncontrollable tears were because she craved the warmth of his embrace.

Alexander lowered his head slightly, planting a gentle kiss on her forehead.like a dragonfly skimming the water, full of tenderness and devoid of any other thoughts.

"Don't be afraid, Wendy," he murmured softly.

But Wendy suddenly closed her eyes, as if making a huge decision.desperately trying to pull herself out of this moment of warmth.

She bit her lip and said firmly, "Thank you, Alexander. You can go now.I want to be alone."

Alexander frowned, his eyes full of worry. "What if you get scared when I'm gone?"

"I won't. I've gotten through worse," Wendy said stubbornly, biting her lip.

Alexander felt the warmth in his heart extinguished by her cold words.leaving him with a sense of loss and bitterness.

He slowly released Wendy, stood up, and looked at her tightly closed eyes, sighing.

Then he turned and left, and with his departure, the room seemed to lose much of its vitality, the temperature dropping, making Wendy shiver.

Wendy wrapped herself in the blanket, curling up as if trying to hide.

She kept telling herself, 'Don't be foolish, don't crave temporary warmth from others. Don't let a bit of kindness lead you into an abyss.'

She lay there for a long time, emotions churning inside her, until they gradually calmed down.

Once she was calm, she felt a bit regretful, knowing her words had been too harsh.

After all, if Alexander hadn't arrived in time today, who knew what would have happened to her.

He had been kind, and she had pushed him away. It wasn't right.

Thinking this, Wendy got out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and slowly walked downstairs.

In the living room, Alexander was sitting alone on the couch.

His shirt, stained and dirty, was thrown aside, and the first aid kit was next to him. He was frowning, struggling to reach his injured right shoulder.

Hearing footsteps on the stairs, he didn't even look up, just glanced out of the corner of his eye.

Seeing it was Wendy, he frowned slightly and continued tending to his wound.

Wendy walked up to him, seeing him clumsily handling his injury, her heart softened.

She gently took the saline solution from his hand and said softly, "Turn around."

Alexander looked up, his eyes full of grievance, reluctance, and a hint of hope, making Wendy's heart race.

But he obediently turned his head, exposing the cut on the backof his neck.

Wendy carefully cleaned the wound, her hands trembling slightly, afraid of hurting him.

After disinfecting, she applied a sterile dressing, her movements gentle and skilled.

Then she hurried to get an ice pack, gently pressing it ngainst the bruise

on his shoulder.

Alexander's body tensed, and he couldn't help but gasp.

Wendy paused, a look of apology flashing across her face. "Does it hurt?"

"It's fine," Alexander shook his head.

"Bear with it. If you don't ice it, the bruise will swell badly and take days to go down."

Her tone was completely different from the coldness when she had pushed him away earlier, carrying a hint of concern.

Alexander sighed inwardly, thinking, 'Wendy's thoughts are really hard to grasp. Even though she's hot and cold, I still can't help but be drawn to her, unable to let go.'
