Chapter 51: Chapter 51

Margaret's eyes, clouded with age, trembled slightly as she took in Alexander's impeccably tailored navy suit, finally resting on his chiseled, handsome face.

She paused,clearly surprised.

Wendy quickly stepped in, "This is Alexander. His family used to live next door to us."

Margaret's brow furrowed in confusion as she searched her memory.Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and she asked, "Your dad, he's Philip Turner.right?"

Alexander smiled and nodded, "Yes, Mrs. Knight."

Margaret's face brightened with recognition, "I knew it! You look just like Philip when he was young."

Alexander's lips curved into a slight smile, "I'm way more mischievous than my dad ever was. I hated studying and was always getting into trouble."

"A little mischief is good!" Margaret laughed until tears formed in her eyes, her gaze full of affection.

"All kids are like that. Which child isn't a bit mischievous? It's better that way. Unlike our Wendy, who was always so well-behaved and ended up getting bullied."

Margaret sighed, "Our Wendy has had such a tough life."

Not wanting Margaret to dwell on sad memories. Alexander quickly

changed the subject, "Mrs. Knight, do you remember when Wendy was little, and she wished my grandpa a happy birthday, good health, and a happy life, and then said she hoped he would soon have a healthy baby?"

Margaret couldn't hold back her laughter, "Yes, I remember that! Everyone in the room was laughing so hard!"、

Wendy coughed forcefully, her cheeks turning a light shade of red.She glared at Alexander, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"I'm not making it up. Mrs. Knight can vouch for me!" Alexander turned to her, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

Wendy couldn't argue and turned to Margaret, "Grandma."

"Alexander, stop teasing Wendy. She gets embarrassed easily!"

Wendy's face was flushed, but seeing Margaret so happy, she decided to let it go.

The atmosphere in the hospital room became warm and cheerful, filled with laughter.

Margaret looked at Alexander with increasing satisfaction and then asked,"How are your dad and grandpa? A few years ago, I saw your dad return to the old house with a beautifully carved box. It looked so exquisite.I wonder what was inside. It must have been something very valuable."

Margaret's family had a history of being minor nobility, and she had a deep love for antiques and collectibles.

Having lived a long life, she had seen countless treasures, but anything packaged in such a delicate box must be of great value.

Hearing Margaret's words, Alexander suddenly paused, then seemed to remember something and asked urgently, "Mrs. Knight, do you remember when my dad came back?"

Margaret thought carefully and then slowly said, "It was about four years ago. He came back once. It was a particularly hot day, probably in late July.He seemed in a hurry, just greeted me briefly, and then left quickly."

Alexander's heart skipped a beat. Late July four years ago was just before his parents'accident.

At that time, he was abroad handling business matters. By the time he received the news and rushed back, he only made it in time for their final farewell.

Why did Philip return to the old house, and what did he take with him?

Why, after staying there for so many days and having the entire house renovated, had he never found any trace of that box?

Could it have been taken by someone?

He pressed his lips together, the furrow in his brow deepening. If it was taken, who could have done it?

Wendy, sensing his unease, looked up and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Alexander lowered his eyes, hiding his emotions.

Wendy didn't believe his dismissive answer, but since he didn't elaborate, she didn't press further.

Visiting hours passed quickly, and a nurse came in to remind Margaret

that it was time to rest.

Wendy reluctantly stood up and tucked.Margaret's blanket, "Grandma, you rest well. I'll come see you in a couple of days."

Margaret smiled and nodded, "Go on, the nurse takes good care of me.Don't worry about me, take good care of yourself."

Alexander and Wendy left the hospital room, and Susan greeted them at the door.

They hadn't seen each other in days, and Susan's eyes lit up with joy when she saw Wendy.

She opened.her mouth to say something but then noticed the strikingly handsome Alexander beside Wendy. She nodded politely to him in greeting.

Then she pulled Wendy's arm and whispered teasingly in her ear,"Moving fast, huh? Already bringing him to meet the family."

Wendy couldn't help but laugh, swatting her hand away, "What are you talking about? He's our old neighbor, just came to catch up with my grandma."

"So, childhood sweethearts, huh?" Susan teased with a grin.

Wendy glared at her, "I'm not going tobother with you."

"Alright, alright!" Susan stopped joking. "By the way, did you see the message in the group chat? Linda said her new hot spring hotel is ready for a soft opening. She wants us to come and give her some feedback. Are you free next weekend?"

Wendy thought for a moment. She had the weekend off, so she agreed readily, "Sure, I'm free. Just let me know."

"Great, I'll pick you up then." Susan waved, "I have to go now. I'll contact you later!"

After Susan left, Wendy and Alexander also left the hospital and drove back to The Knight Villa.

On the way. Alexander remained silent, not saying a word.

Wendy noticed his mood and decided not to speak either.

They drove in silence.

After dropping Wendy off at home. Alexander drove back to The Turner Manor.

The car slowly entered the estate gates, passing through neatly trimmed hedges, and finally stopped in front of the mansion.

Alexander got out, handed the keys to a servant, and walked to the lounge.

As expected, his grandfather Carl Turner and the butler Reed Sullivan were playing chess.

Hearing the noise, Carl looked up at the door, "Alexander, you're back?"

Alexander respectfully greeted,"Grandpa, Reed."

Carl nodded, and Reed stood up, bowed to Alexander, and then sat back down to continue the game with Carl.

"Have a seat," Carl gestured for Alexander to take a seat in the nearby chair.

Alexander sat down, his upright posture pleasing Carl.

Alexander quietly watched the chess game for a while. When the game ended,he softly asked Reed to leave.

Reed bowed slightly and tactfully exited, gently closing the door behind him.

With only Alexander and Carl left in the lounge. Alexander sat across from Carl, hesitated for a moment, and then asked with difficulty.

"Grandpa, I have something to ask you, in the time before my father's accident, was there anything unusual at home?"
