She turned around. "Isn't it in my bag?"
Alexander shook his head. "Nope."
Wendy didn't suspect anything and walked over.
Alexander took off the backpack, and she unzipped it, opening the inner pocket. Her phone was sitting there, safe and sound.
"Here it is."
"Oh, there it is."' Alexander took her phone and slipped it into his own pocket.
Wendy watched his actions, not quite understanding what he was up to.
Alexander put the backpack back on and grabbed her wrist. "Let's go."
He said this while leading her down the right path.
Wendy was confused and looked back to see Susan's group getting farther away. She struggled a bit. "You're going the wrong way."
Alexander replied, "Both paths lead there. This one's just a bit shorter."
"Then why didn't you say soearlier?"
If both paths worked, why insist on this one?
"Because I didn't want to walk with them," he said confidently.
Wendy was taken aback for a second, then chuckled.
Alexander smiled too, his eyes crinkling slightly. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, let's just go." Wendy urged him with a smile.
Alexander wasn't lying. The path they took was indeed shorter and more convenient.
By the time they reached the top, Susan and the others hadn't arrived yet.
A glow appeared behind the rolling hills, signaling the imminent sunrise.
Alexander took her thermos out of the backpack and handed it to her.
Wendy opened it and took a few sips.He naturally took it back and put it away.
Wendy glanced at him.
Alexander asked,"What?"
Wendy looked at his handsome face and suddenly said, "Alexander, do you like me?"
Alexander was momentarily stunned, then a smile played on his lips, his eyes twinkling. "What do you think?"
"I think you do," Wendy said confidently.
Alexander nodded with a smile. "You guessed right."
Wendy was silent for a moment, then said, "You're a golden boy-handsome,capable,wealthy. You deserve someone better."
"Someone better?" Alexander looked at her. "Like who?"
Wendy replied, "I'm not good enough for you."
Firstly, she was divorced, which society often saw as a permanent "flaw."
Secondly, the Turner family was influential and prestigious in Eldoria, with high standards for choosing a future matriarch.
How could they ever consider someone like her, a divorced, seemingly ordinary woman with no power or status?
"I don't need you to be good enough. I just need to be good enough for you. And to me, you are the best."
Wendy was taken aback and looked up at him. "Why?"
"Because you're you, and they're not." Alexander's eyes were calm, but his words were sincere.
"Wendy, I've met many women, but only you make my heart race."
He looked down at her, his gaze so focused it was intoxicating.
Wendy's heart skipped a beat.
She lowered her eyelashes to hide her complex emotions and said softly,"Thank you for your affirmnation. But I'm not considering a relationship right now."
Alexander's eyes dimmed slightly. "Okay, I understand."
Even though he had anticipated this answer, hearing her rejection still made him feel a pang of disappointment.
Wendy didn't explain further and stood up.
The sky was gradually lightening, the dawn casting a golden hue over the mountain, making it breathtakingly beautiful.
Wendy looked up at the view and couldn't help but exclaim,"It's so
beautiful!"
"Yeah," Alexander said, looking at her delicate profile. "It really is."
"Wendy!" A voice called out from a distance. Susan's shout grew closer."Wendy, are you there?"
Wendy turned towards the voice and saw Susan and Jessica running over, with Ethan trailing behind, his face dark and stormy, as if someone owed him millions.
Wendy waved. "Over here!"
Jessica ran up first, complaining, "Wendy, you scared me! I thought you got lost."
Wendy patted her shoulder and smiled. "I'm not that dumb. How could I get lost out here? Anyway, look, the sun's rising."
Everyone gasped in awe.
The horizon glowed as the red sun slowly rose, casting golden light and illuminating the mountains and trees, making the scene look like a paradise.
The first rays of sunlight hit Wendy's face and body, filling her with a sense of grandeur and lifting all her burdens.
Love or not, what did it matter?
The mountains were high, the seas vast, the sun rose, and the moon set.Love was just a fleeting moment in life.
What mattered most now was to get better and work hard.
When her obituary was written, it should start with-renowned doctor Wendy!
Jessica was thrilled, screaming with excitement. "It's so beautiful!"
"Really gorgeous!" Susan exclaimed. "Wendy, let's take a group photo."
Wendy nodded in agreement.
They found the best angle, set up the phone, and were about to take a picture.
Susan noticed Alexander standing nearby and mischievously pulled him over to Wendy. "Come on, Mr. Turner, let's get a picture of you two together."
Jessica immediately started cheering.
Alexander bent down and leaned in next to Wendy.
Susan took out her phone and snapped a picture of them together.
In the photo, the handsome man and beautiful woman made a stunning pair.
Susan showed the picture to Alexander and asked, "Mr. Turner, how do you think I did?"
Alexandler examined the photo. "Not bad."
"Mr. Turner, do you think this photo is worth a few tickets to the Turner Group's Breath of the Wild tour?" Susan asked with a playful smile.
The "Breath of the Wild" concert was a major music event hosted by the famous singer Royce Castillo, featuring celebrities and renowned artists.
It was held at the most luxurious stadium in Aurora City, and tickets were always in high demand.
Alexander looked at Wendy, meeting her clear eyes.
He smiled1. "Sure, I'll have some tickets sent to you."
Susan was overjoyed. "Thank you, Mr. Turner! You're so generous!"
Alexander smiled lightly.
Susan turned to Wendy and asked, "Wendy, you don't mind, right?"
Wendy was silent.
Jessica quickly chimed in, "Wendy's not petty. We'll all go together. It's been ages since wve went to a concert."
Wendy looked at them and smiled helplessly. "What else can I say?"
"Knew you'd be the best." Jessica hugged her arm affectionately."Come on,let's take a group photo with Mr. Turner."
She looked around for someone to take their picture.
But there was no one else around except for Ethan, who was sulking nearby.
Jessica walked over to Ethan with a grin. "Ethan, could you take a picture for us?"
