Sarah stormed into the house, tossing her bag at the maid with such force that it nearly knocked her over.
Her face was twisted in anger, like she had just swallowed a handful of flies.
"Mom,what the hell happened today? Alexander actually showed up to defend that bitch! Do you know how humiliating it was for me at the hospital? My colleagues are all whispering behind my back, calling you a wicked mother-in-law!"
"How is this my fault?"Juniper snapped back, her frustration boiling over.
"If Alexander hadn't shown up out of nowhere, I would have had Wendy expelled from the school. Who could have predicted that he would not only defend her but also turn around and threaten me? If he really decides to crush the Collins Group, we'll be ruined! If Ethan finds out, he'll probably tear us apart!"
She had intended to use the situation to pressure the school, but Alexander's intervention had backfired spectacularly.
Continuing to push would only harm her, Sarah, anid the Collins Group. What else could she do but give up?
"What are we supposed to do now?" Sarah was mortified at the thought of her colleagues' disdainful looks and wanted nothing more than to hide away.
She was a member of the Collins family, after all. The disgrace she faced was a blow to her pride.
Normally, people would bow and scrape in her presence, but now they openly mocked her. How could she possibly swallow this indignity?
Lydia hadn't even stepped inside when she heard the commotion.
"Mrs. Collins, Sarah, what's going on?" Lydia asked with a smile, carrying several shopping bags as she approached them.
"Let's talk this over calmly. There's no need to argue and hurt each other's feelings. I bought you some bags and jewelry. See if you like them."
Ethan had been acting strange lately. He had promised to marry her as soon as the divorce papers were finalized, but now he claimed he was too busy with work.
Could he still have feelings for Wendy?
If that was the case, she needed to win over Juniper and Sarah, ensuring they were firmly on her side.
She had to become a member of the Collins family!
Juniper and Sarah's eyes lit up as they eagerly took the bags and carefully opened them.
"Lydia, you're so thoughtful. Just thinking about that bitch Wendy makes me furious!"
"Mrs. Collins, Sarah, what happened?" Lydia asked. though she had a pretty good idea that Wendy was involved.
After all, who else could provoke such a reaction from Juniper and Sarah?
Juniper's face darkened as she put down the jewelry she was examining. "Don't even mention it. That bitch Wendly..."
Juniper recounted the day's events to Lydia.
Lydia quickly understood. Juniper had tried to frame Wendy, but it had backfired spectacularly.
Sarah's anger flared up again as she recalled the incident. "It's all that bitch's fault that I'm being ostracized at the hospital. Lydia, you have to help us get back at her!"
Juniper chimed in. "Yes! We can't let her get away with this! She lived off Ethan for three years without even having a child, and she walked away with a house and millions in cash. That's over ten million dollars!"
She continued, "Why should she get that? Ethan works so hardI to support the family, and she just sits back and enjoys the fruits of his labor. It's outrageous! We have to get it back! That was supposed to be your wedding gift!"
Juniper's anger flared up again at the thought.
Lydia's expression changed briefly but quickly returned to normal.
"Lydia, Sarah and I really can't compete with that scheming Wendy. She used to act so meek and submissive, but now that they're divorced, her true colors are showing, and she's making us look like fools!" Juniper took a sip of tea to calm herself.
Lydia's smile was tinged with disdain. Juniper and Sarah were always scheming, and it was embarrassing. But she needed their support to marry Ethan.
"We're all family here. I don't care about the money. I just can't stand seeing you two suffer. After all, we'll all be family soon."
Lydia maintained a gracious demeanor, knowing that showing too much interest in the money would make Juniper and Sarah suspicious.
Juniper believed Lydia's sincerity and continued, "Lydia, I knew you were sensible, unlike Wendy, who just makes us furious."
Juniper moved closer to Lydia, taking her hand with a smile. "Since you don't care about the money, once we get it back from Wendy. I'll give it to Sarah as a wedding gift. What do you think?"
A wedding gift for Sarah?
Lydia was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered, cursing Juniper's shamelessness in her mind.
But she had already spoken, and there was no taking it back. Despite her anger, Lydia forced a smile, hiding her true feelings.
"Mrs. Collins, if you think it's a good idea, then it's fine with me." Lydia's demeanor remained unchanged as she turned to Sarah with a smile.
"Let's set the money aside for now. The first thing we need to do is improve Sarah's situation at the hospitl. Listen to me..."
Lydia whispered something in Sarah's ear, and Sarah's eyes lit up with excitement. She hugged Lydia tightly and kissed her cheeks.
"Thank you, Lydia! You're so clever. I know exactly what to do now.Just watch how I deal with that bitch Wendy. I'll make her cough up everything she took from us. It all belongs to the Collins family!"
Lydia smiled, a hint of malice in her eyes.
The next morning, outside the hospital.
Wendy's outfit was as simple and comfortable as usual. After the previous day's drama had been resolved, she was in a relatively good mood.
But as she looked up, she saw Sarah standing not far away, and her brow furrowed slightly.
Sarah walked towards her with an arrogant expression. 'Wendy,I'm here to apologize on behalf of my mom for what happened yesterday. She didn't mean it; she was misled."
She pulled out her phone and waved it in front of Wendy before quickly putting it away.
"Someone sent my mom an anonymous email yesterday. You know how much she cares about Ethan. She couldn't stand to see him wronged, which is why this misunderstanding happened."
Wendy's face remained calm, showing no reaction to Sarah's apology. She knew Juniper and Sarah all too well after living with them for three years.
They were not the type to sincerely apologize; they must have an ulterior motive.
"Wendy, whether you believe it or not, I'm genuinelyhere to apologize. We ve caused you so much trouble, and that was wrong of us."
