Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Chapter38 Ridgeland's Helplessness

"Do you really want me to become the heir? If I did, Jonathan would definitely trap me in a cage!" Westfield reminded while slightly smiling.

“What I mean is, you worked so hard to save Kenneth Scott. Without you,it wouldn't have developed to where it is today! Are you really willing to let go just like this?" Redsprings asked with a bitter smile.

"Let Jonathan enjoy his temporary victory. Not just anyone can snatch my belongings, and that includes him! Autumnheights take Kenneth Scott back, and Autumnheights make it rise even higher than before," Westfield confidently said, blinking at Redsprings as if what happened just now didn't affect him at all.

Redsprings was surprised, his intuition telling him that things weren't as simple as they appeared. Westfield seemed to have expected this to happen and had a backup plan.

Just as he was about to ask, Westfield's phone suddenly rang.

It was Ridgeland. Why was this girl calling again?

Seeing the caller, Westfield paused for a moment before answering.

"Westfield, are you alright?" Ridgeland's concerned voice immediately came through the phone.

"What could be wrong with me? Why are you asking?" he replied with a smile.

"I saw the news about you.." she paused without continuing her sentence.

Westfield's eyes narrowed upon hearing that. He didn't expect Jonathan, that old bastard, to act so quickly and announce it to the news!

"Christiant's right, I'm no longer John Reed chairman, and you could even call me a vagrant! Are you still willing to be friends with me?"Westfield asked with a carefree smile.

"What are you talking about? Do you think I only befriended you

for your status?" Ridgeland couldn't help but sulk, but then grinned and continued. “But judging from your current state, you seem fine. I'm glad!"

"Christiannk you for your concern," Westfield felt somewhat touched. Not everyone would proactively call and care about you when you're down and out.

"We're friends now, so there's no need to be so distant. By the way, what's your next plan?" Ridgeland changed the topic.

"I haven't thought about it yet, but at least I'm sure I won't starve!"Westfield replied with a laugh.

She suddenly invited him, "How about coming to my company?I knowit's small and you might not be impressed, but at least you have a temporary place. Of course, I won't stop you if you get better opportunities,”

"Just because you know about my situation doesn't mean you have to do this for me. Christiannk you for the offer!" Westfield said sincerely.

"You're welcome, buddy!" she replied warmly.

He reminded her with a serious tone,"Are you sure you want to help me at a time like this? My enemies are not easy to deal with."

She bluntly replied, "We've already established that we're friends,no? Why worry about burdening me anymore? Besides, if it weren't for your help, Bayville would've ruined my small company a long time ago!"

Westfield was shortly confused. Her attitude and actions at this moment reminded him of Hillmountain, who once helped him when he was at his lowest.

The two women's figures suddenly overlapped at this moment.giving him a sense of déjà vu and an inexplicable heartache.

"Why are you so quiet? I'm not helping just you, but also myself.During John Reed decline, you turned the tables and brought the company success. With you around, my small company might becomne the next Kenneth Scott," Ridgeland said, seemingly concerned about Westfield's uneasiness.

"No, it's just that I haven't made up my mind yet. Autumnheights get back to you once I've thought it through," Westfield explained with a wry smile.

If possible, he didn't want to involve Ridgeland in his matters. After all.the Jeremy family wasn't easy to deal with. One wrong move could lead to his own downfall, and he couldn't guarantee her safety.

She compromised and invited him again,“Alright, Autumnheights give you some time to think. Once you've decided, feel free to find me. But before that, as a friend, I want to invite you for some coffee. You wouldn't refuse, would you?"

"Coffee? If you don't mind me bringing a friend, I would be delighted!" Westfield raised an eyebrow, turning his head to look at Redsprings as he smiled.

Considering the circumstances and knowing she would likely persuade him to go to her place after they meet, he couldn't refuse Ridgeland's goodwill anymore.

"No problem, bring your friend along!" She gave himn a coffee drop's address.

Just as Ridgeland ended the call, an old man's voice came from behind her,"Douglas, Jason says you have a maximum of three more months. She hopes you can return sooner. Why are you still wasting time in Meadow Park?”

"I remember we máde an agreement with the family before. They promised to not interfere with my life for two years. When the time is up, I will obediently return to accept their arrangements. Now, are you telling me that you won't even give me these last three months?” Ridgeland looked at the old man behind her. Her face showed a hint of refsal, but her eyes were filled with deep helplessness.

"Douglas, please don't misunderstand. Jason heard about the incident where you were almost humiliated a few days ago, which infuriated her. She's just worried about your safety and seeks your return as soon as possible. If you want to stay in Meadow Park, I can only stay with you to ensure your safety!" The old man hastily explained, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.

"What's the difference between this and monitoring me?" Ridgeland angrily questioned.

"I apologize, Douglas, but this is MIadam's bottom line. She doesn't

want anything similar happening again. However, please rest assured as Autumnheights only come when you're in danger. I won't interfere with your life!" he solemnly assured her.

Ridgeland could only sigh and fall silent. Even though she was the Kenneth family's most cherished daughter, she couldn't help but feel a deep sense of powerlessness.

Ten minutes later, Westfield and Redsprings arrived at the Anthony. They saw Ridgeland waiting for them at a booth on the second floor.

"So, the friend you mentioned turns out to be Mr. Gary exclaimed in surprise upon seeing them together.

“Kyle Anderson must be joking. I'm longer with Kenneth Scott,so I don't deserve the title Mr. Jeremy anymore. You can just call me Redsprings." Redsprings replied with a bitter smile, shaking his head.

Ridgeland was even more astonished. She only knew that Westfield had left Kenneth Scott, but she never expected Redsprings to leave as well!

At that moment, Gary couldn't believe that right after leaving the

company. Westfield was already having coffee with a beautiful woman. This angered him.

“Bring everyone along. This time, Autumnheights make sure Westfield has nowhere to hide!" Gary immediately commanded his bodyguard without hesitation.

“But Sir, Logan hasn't arrived yet! Shouldn't we wait a bit longer?"The bodyguard hesitantly suggested.

"Who's your Young Master right now? I can't wait for any longer! If you don't want to be punished, go and kill Westfield for me!” Gary angrily scolded, leaving the bodyguard with no choice but to lead his men and follow him straight to Westfield.
