Chapter 215: Chapter 215

Jenna Roland leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. Her piercing gaze locked onto Sean Roland. "Big brother, have you ever seen Dad's carved wooden box?"

Sean paused while organizing documents. He looked up, confused. "What box?"

Since graduating college, he'd moved out of the Roland family home.

The old house was too small. If he returned, Jenna and Milo would have to share a room. Over the years, he'd preferred renting near the company rather than going back.

A flicker of disappointment crossed Jenna's eyes before she forced a casual smile. "Never mind. I just saw it while cleaning the closet. Thought it looked unique."

She'd lived in the Roland house for five years and never once spotted that box.

Victor Roland must have hidden it deliberately. Only after she moved out did that old fox dare to leave it in plain sight.

"Should I ask for you?" Sean closed the file folder.

"No!" Jenna waved her hands hastily. "If Uncle Victor finds out I'm asking, he'll accuse me of meddling again."

Sean considered this and dropped the subject. He grabbed his car keys. "Where to? I'll drive you."

"The orchard." Jenna slung her backpack over her shoulder.

Sean nodded and led her to the parking lot. He opened the car door for her like a gentleman, waiting until she buckled up before starting the engine.

"It's scorching today. Didn't we agree you'd skip the orchard?" Sean glanced at the blinding sunlight outside.

Jenna stared at the scenery whipping past the window. "Just checking on things. Not working."

"How much longer at the club?" Sean asked abruptly.

Jenna turned to him, lips curving slightly. "Two more weeks. I'll quit once I've saved enough."

"Better leave sooner." Sean kept his eyes on the road. "That place isn't for you."

Jenna gave a soft "Mm."

She'd only taken the club job to pay for Milo's surgery. Now that her brother's treatment was secured, she couldn't wait to get out.

The car stopped at the mountain's base. Sean turned to her. "Call me if you need anything."

"Got it." Jenna waved as the car drove off.

Once the taillights vanished around the bend, she faced the lush orchard. Under the blazing sun, her eyes burned hotter than the daylight.

"Dad... Mom..." she whispered. "I will uncover the truth."

The orchard stood empty at noon. Jenna found a shady spot beneath a dense fruit tree and waited silently.

At 3 PM, Victor's figure finally appeared on the mountain path.

Jenna stood immediately, pretending to prune branches. By 4 PM, she wiped her sweat and approached Victor. "Uncle, I lost my keys. Can I borrow yours?"

Victor frowned. "How?"

"Probably dropped them on my way down." Jenna feigned innocence. "I searched everywhere."

Victor's face darkened, but remembering Fiona's warnings, he suppressed his anger. Slowly, he unhooked the keyring from his belt—

Jenna's heartbeat spiked. A thin layer of sweat coated her back.
