Tanya Hill curled her lips in a cold smirk. "So that's how it is. You're jealous because Jenna's business is better than yours, so you sent your mother-in-law to cause trouble? Birds of a feather!"
Jenna Roland's pupils constricted sharply.
She never imagined this Lydia Lombardi was actually Sophia Valrose's mother-in-law.
Just days ago, Tanya had warned her that Sophia was envious of her success.
And now she'd already sent someone for revenge?
Sophia helped Lydia to her feet, her face dark with fury. "Why should she get ahead so fast? Why did she have to set up right in front of me? She ruined my business!"
Jenna almost laughed at the absurdity.
"I can set up wherever I want. If you can't compete, that's your problem."
Tanya crossed her arms, sneering. "Sophia, you're pathetic. Can't handle competition, so you send your mother-in-law to do your dirty work? No shame at all?"
Sophia's face flushed crimson.
Knowing she was in the wrong, she tried dragging Lydia away.
Jenna blocked their path in one swift move. "I've already called the police. They'll be here any minute."
Tanya also barred their escape. "Think you can just run? Not happening."
Sophia ground her teeth. "The street doesn't belong to you! Get out of our way!"
Lydia spat venomously, "Good dogs don't block the road!"
"You scared off my customers and think you can walk away?" Jenna stood her ground.
Hannah Kalmien suddenly interjected, "Sophia, you sabotaged her business first, and your mother-in-law cursed Jenna's parents. Now you won't even apologize?"
She gave Jenna a meaningful look. "Jenna isn't someone you can bully."
That much was true.
Jenna had once chased her uncle around the yard with a cleaver.
She wouldn't let this slide.
Sophia kept deflecting. "She insulted us too! Why should we apologize?"
Hannah frowned deeply. "Are you serious? You started this!"
Just then, the wail of sirens approached.
A police car pulled up smoothly before the stalls.
Three officers stepped out, led by Inspector Liam Hill whom Jenna recognized.
Lydia and Sophia panicked, but Jenna and Tanya held them firmly in place.
Liam's sharp gaze swept over them. "Who called this in?"
His crisp uniform and chiseled features radiated authority.
Though puzzled by his question, Jenna raised her hand. "I did, Officer."
