"My most urgent need right now is money for Milo's treatment." Jenna's voice was icy. "Otherwise I'd have hired a lawyer already. Considering you've managed the orchard these years, I'll give you a few more months. But what's rightfully mine—I will take it all back!"
"Dream on! That orchard is mine now. No lawyer can change that!" Victor Roland's neck stiffened with defiance.
Jenna's gaze turned glacial, though a cold smile played on her lips. "We'll see about that."
The ruthless glint in her eyes sent an involuntary shiver down Victor's spine. He'd never seen this side of Jenna before—it unsettled him.
Heidi quickly interjected, "Jenna, let's forget the past. Just tell the police it was all a misunderstanding so Jason and Fiona can come home."
"Sure." Jenna agreed breezily.
Heidi's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Of course not." Jenna smirked. "Want me to drop the charges? Simple—return my orchard. I'll go to the station right now."
"Over my dead body!" Victor exploded. "That orchard stays with me!"
"Then enjoy their two-week stay in detention." Jenna turned to leave. "Though I imagine the family gossip will be quite entertaining once they're out."
Victor stormed off in a rage.
Heidi hurried after him. "Dad, we came to negotiate! How can she agree if you act like this?"
"Didn't you hear her demands?" Victor hissed through clenched teeth. "That orchard brings in hundreds of thousands a year. Hand it over and we starve!"
"But Mom and Jason—"
"Two weeks won't kill them!" Victor waved impatiently. "Let the relatives talk all they want."
Heidi bit her lip. She knew what the orchard meant to the family—Victor would never relinquish it.
"What about... asking Sean to intervene?" she suggested suddenly. "He gets along with Jenna."
Victor paused mid-step, eyes lighting up. He immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Sean's number.
