Chapter 134: Chapter 134

Evelyn, You're Not Going Anywhere!

The reporters scrambled.

They grabbed their equipment in a panic and fled.

Isabella was stunned.

She grabbed one reporter's arm. "Why are you running? Get back here!" she demanded.

The reporter looked terrified.

"We want no trouble!" he stammered.

Isabella was incredulous.

"You took my money! You can't just run!"

Immediately, all the reporters shoved the cash back into her hands.

They vanished within seconds.

Isabella slowly regained her composure.

She realized Alexander and Evelyn were behind this.

She whirled around, her eyes locking onto Evelyn. "What did you do?" she snarled.

Evelyn was bewildered.

She instinctively looked to Alexander for an explanation.

Alexander didn't answer directly.

His voice was soft. "Evelyn, it's over. Let's go home."

As they turned to leave, Isabella moved to block their path.

"Evelyn, you're not going anywhere!" she commanded.

But before she could reach them, several large bodyguards stepped out from behind Alexander.

They formed a solid wall, stopping Isabella and Patricia in their tracks.

Helpless, the two women could only watch.

Alexander and Evelyn got into a sleek, unmarked luxury car.

It drove away, leaving Isabella and Patricia seething.

Inside the car, the world fell silent.

Evelyn's heart was still racing.

She replayed the confrontation in her mind.

After a moment, she spoke quietly. "Why did you come?"

Alexander's tone was gentle. "I looked for you this morning after leaving my study. You were gone. Samuel said you left in a hurry. Luckily, you told him where you were going. I was worried, so I came."

He let out a nearly silent sigh. "It's a good thing I did. You were in real danger."

Despite her courage, Evelyn was alone.

She would have been overwhelmed.

Evelyn nodded. "Yes. I'm glad you came. I couldn't have gotten away otherwise."

A frown touched her lips. "I never thought Patricia would go this far. She pretended to apologize, but this was her plan all along. I'll be more careful from now on."

Alexander gave a soft smile. "No matter what, I will always be here for you."

Evelyn met his gaze.

A wave of warmth spread through her.

With the immediate threat gone, Evelyn finally relaxed.

A dull throb pulsed in her ankle.

She winced, sucking in a sharp breath.

Her hand went to the sore spot.

"What is it?" Alexander asked, his concern immediate.

Evelyn shook her head quickly. "It's nothing. Just my ankle. It's a little sore."

Alexander's expression darkened.

He remembered her almost falling.

Without a word, he knelt.

He gently cupped her calf, examining her ankle.

They both stilled.

Evelyn's right ankle was visibly swollen and bruised.

It was clearly sprained from the earlier struggle.

The adrenaline had masked the pain.

Now it hit her full force.

Alexander's face hardened.

His jaw was tight.

Evelyn's heart fluttered nervously. "I'm really fine..." she offered weakly.

"How can you say that?" Alexander's voice was firm. He addressed the driver. "Take us to the hospital. Now."

"Yes, sir," the driver replied, immediately changing course toward Benjamin Carter's private clinic.

Evelyn opened her mouth to protest.

A sprain like this could be handled at home with some cream.

But seeing the stern, almost grim look on Alexander's face, she stayed silent.

She knew better than to argue with him right now.
