He Won't Act That Way Again
Sebastian coughed lightly, a sigh escaping him.
"You know Alexander's early car accident left him with his condition."
"The way his family treated him after... it forged that stern personality of his."
"We should try to be more understanding."
"Let's not hold minor grievances against him, alright?"
Evelyn was momentarily stunned by Sebastian's perceptive words.
Her previous impression of him was just a carefree playboy.
Now, she saw a different side.
He had proven to be a loyal friend, standing by Alexander through difficult times.
Alexander was fortunate to have someone like Sebastian.
After a moment, she reassured him. "Don't worry."
"He won't act that way again."
"I'll speak to him. I'll remind him to treat you better."
Sebastian's eyebrow shot up. "Alexander listens to you?"
"Of course he does," she replied with confidence. "I'm his wife. Who else would he listen to?"
Sebastian was taken aback. He knew Alexander was not a man easily swayed by anyone.
But given the depth of Alexander's feelings for Evelyn, Sebastian wondered just how far he would go for her.
"You should keep an eye on him," Sebastian advised pragmatically.
"Make sure his temper doesn't cause any business misunderstandings."
"His position within the Blackwood family is delicate."
"He's worked hard to build his career. He can't afford a misstep now."
"You're right," Evelyn agreed. "I'll handle it."
Soon after, Sebastian's car arrived at Serenity Oaks.
Sebastian got out quickly and strode toward the entrance without waiting for Evelyn.
Seeing Samuel, he immediately asked, "Samuel, is Alexander in his study? I need to speak with him."
Samuel, accustomed to Sebastian's informal manner, nodded.
"He's in the kitchen, sir. Cooking."
"What?!" Sebastian exclaimed, certain he had misheard. "Alexander is cooking? Seriously?"
Evelyn, a few steps behind, overheard and added, "Really? Why would Alexander suddenly decide to cook?"
Samuel offered Evelyn a warm smile. "Mr. Blackwood knows you've been very busy with work lately."
"He wanted to prepare something to help restore your energy."
Despite Samuel's sincere tone, Sebastian remained skeptical.
Alexander's recent behavior had been unusually considerate toward Evelyn.
It seemed every unexpected thing he did was for her benefit.
Sebastian marveled inwardly. Alexander had been single for so long.
But since falling for Evelyn, he had devoted himself entirely to her.
Curiosity overpowering him, Sebastian marched toward the kitchen.
"I have to see what he's managed to make," he muttered. "Alexander never cooks."
Hearing this, Evelyn's curiosity also grew.
She realized she had never actually tasted anything Alexander had prepared.
But before they could reach the kitchen, a sudden, loud explosion echoed from within.
