Chapter 331: Chapter 332

The spotlight was hers now, and she wielded it masterfully.

By leveraging her position as a top-tier philanthropist, Amy Sinclair had propelled her public image to unprecedented heights.

Even with her social media accounts suspended, a hundred-million-dollar donation was the kind of headline that government agencies would broadcast themselves.

After all, who would dare censor an official state media outlet?

The so-called scandals circulating about Amy online? To the eyes of authoritative news sources, they were nothing more than frivolous gossip—baseless and insignificant.

A donation of this magnitude was undeniably newsworthy.

The government actively championed charitable acts, and Amy had become their ideal ambassador.

Of course, she could have chosen anonymity. But by attaching her name to the donation, she also accepted the scrutiny that came with it.

Public philanthropy was no joke. Once pledged, the amount had to be delivered—no exceptions.

And as long as the funds were legitimate, no one—absolutely no one—could exploit them. Not even Amy herself.

To do so would be criminal.

Amy turned to the officers with composed grace. "Excuse me, officers, may I ask—what exactly am I being accused of?"

One of them responded, "You've been reported for allegedly leaking corporate secrets and engaging with a competitor. The complainant has provided evidence of your communications with a rival company. Given the substantial sums involved, we must treat this matter with the utmost seriousness. We require your full cooperation in the investigation, Ms. Sinclair."

"So, to clarify," Amy said smoothly, "no charges have been formally filed against me, correct?"

The officer nodded. "That's correct. Nothing has been confirmed yet. However, since we've received a formal complaint, we are obligated to investigate. We appreciate your understanding, Ms. Sinclair."

Amy smiled politely. "Of course, I’ll cooperate fully. But before we proceed, may I address the press?"

The officer glanced at the sea of reporters.

Given Amy’s public standing—and her staggering donation—the police had no intention of wrongfully accusing someone who might very well be innocent.

He nodded. "While the investigation itself will remain private, you’re welcome to make a statement if you wish."

"Thank you." Amy inclined her head before turning to the reporter who had spoken out earlier.

"The police have merely asked for my cooperation. They have not declared me guilty of anything. So tell me—on what grounds are you so certain I’ve committed a crime?"

All eyes swiveled to the reporter, who wiped sweat from his brow.

He was accustomed to spinning narratives, but with law enforcement present, his bravado faltered.

"W-well… the police are here for you, aren’t they? Doesn’t that mean you’re guilty?"

Even the officer’s patience wore thin.

He spoke sharply, "Since when does being questioned by the police equate to guilt? We often speak with witnesses, informants, and even commendable citizens. Would you call them criminals too?"

The reporter doubled down. "But she’s under investigation! Someone filed a report!"

Amy met his gaze, unshaken.

"Sir, as a journalist, you should know better than to make reckless accusations without evidence. Your lack of professionalism is astounding."

Her voice rang out, clear and unwavering.

"Officers, I’d like to file a formal complaint against these reporters for slander, defamation, and maliciously damaging my reputation. I suspect they’re acting under someone else’s directive to target me specifically."

She paused, then added with steel in her tone,

"Furthermore, I will be suing every social media platform that unlawfully suspended my accounts. Unless they can provide concrete proof of any violations on my part, I will hold them fully accountable for their actions."
