Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Alexander, dressed in casual attire, stood tall with a stern expression, his deep eyes filled with concern for Chris.

He had brought Chris here, hoping the lively atmosphere of the tennis court might lift his spirits.

Alexander, hearing the commotion from Wendy's direction, frowned slightly and glanced over at them.

Wendy spotted Alexander and hesitated, unsure whether to greet him.

Lydia, misinterpreting Wendy's hesitation as fear, sneered, "What's the matter? Afraid?"

Facing Lydia's provocation, Wendy lifted her chin slightly. "Fine, let's compete. I'm not afraid."

Lydia was momentarily taken aback by Wendy's bold acceptance. She quickly masked her surprise with an arrogant smirk and headed to the nearby tennis court.

Wendy took a deep breath and followed steadily.

Susan trailed behind, worried, muttering, "Wendy, don't be impulsive. She's just trying to provoke you."

Wendy patted her shoulder reassuringly, signaling her not to worry.

The match began with Lydia serving. She put all her effort into it.trying to intimidate Wendy, the tennis ball whizzing through the air.

Wendy moved gracefully, returning the ball with precision.

After several rounds, the match was evenly matched.

Alexander and Chris watched quietly from the sidelines.

Although Chris couldn't see, with Alexander's commentary and his familiarity with tennis, he could roughly gauge the situation on the court.

Chris seemed to be caught up in the tense atmosphere, his previously dull expression becoming animated, his hands gripping the wheelchair's armrests tightly.

Wendy knew that with her current physical condition, she couldn't outlast Lydia in endurance. She had to finish the match quickly.

As the game progressed, she found her rhythm, her shots becoming sharper and more angled.

Lydia, on the other hand, started to struggle, not expecting Wendy, who seemed so delicate, to have such excellent tennis skills.

In the end, Wendy won the match with a beautiful cross-court shot, and the crowd erupted in applause.

Lydia stood on the court, her face pale, too angry and embarrassed to speak.

Wendy walked off the court, and Susan immediately rushed up, her face full of excitement, "Wendy, you were amazing!"

Alexander nodded slightly, a barely noticeable smile on his lips, "Ms.Knight, excellent technique."

Wendy smiled and thanked them, feeling a sense of exhilaration.

She walked past Ethan, Lydia, and the others with her head held high,

leaving them in shock.

As she stepped out of the venue, the sunlight bathed her, and Wendy took a deep breath, feeling relieved.

She was glad she had practiced tennis for a few years; otherwise, she might have lost to Lydia today.

Losing to anyone else was fine, but losing to someone like Lydia was disgusting.

Ethan was stunned to see this fierce and strong side of Wendy, not responding even when Lydia called his name several times.

Lydia's face grew darker, and she angrily threw the tennis ball at Wendy.

If it hit her, it would definitely cause some injury.

Wendy was celebrating her victory and didn't notice the ball flying towards her.

Just as the ballwas about to hit her, a figure suddenly rushed over, taking the hit for her.

Wendy looked up sharply, meeting a pair of deep eyes.

The man stepped forward, his long legs crossing over, one arm around her waist, the other bracing against the railing.

His handsome face was close, his features deep and captivating, especially those mesmerizing eyes that seemed to draw her in.

It was Alexander!

After blocking the ball, he didn't throw it away but instead held Wendy

protectively, then raised his other hand and threw the ball back at Lydla with great force, scaring her into a scream.

However, the ball only grazed her ear and landed heavily on the ground beside her.

Lydia, still in shock, fell to the ground, looking disheveled, as mocking laughter echoed around her.

Ethan frowned and hurried over to help Lydia up.

Lydia was both angry and anxious, but because of Alexander's status, she didn't dare show it. She just glared at Wendy with gritted teeth.

'This bitch, when did she hook up with Alexander, making him protect her in public? It's infuriating!' she thought.

She was resentful but couldn't vent her anger on Alexander, so she had to hold it in.

By then, Alexander had let go of Wendy and asked, "You okay?"

Wendy snapped out of it and nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine."

Alexander looked into her eyes and asked again, "Really okay?"

Wendy nodded again, "Really, I'm fine. Thanks for saving me again!"

"It's nothing." Alexander's stern face showed a hint of a smile, "I've heard from Professor Taylor that you're going to study with him again. He said you're the most promising to take over his position. My brother's eyes..."

Alexander hadn't planned on having any further Interaction with Wendy.

But he didn't expect her to be HaroldI's most valued student.

For some reason, he felt a secret joy in his heart.

Alexander didn't finish his sentence, but Wendy understood his meaning. So he's protecting me because he hopes I can perform surgery to heal his brother's eyes.'

Wendy, though feeling unworthy of his high regarde didn't want to disappoint him and nodded, indicating she would do her best.

Alexander left,satisfied.

Susan then walked over, teasingly asking, "Wendy, that handsome guy just now was Mr. Turner from the Turner Group, right? When did you get so close to him? And a hero saving the beauty..."

Wendy glanced at her, "Stop gossiping."

She said as she walked ahead, Susan glaring at Lydia and Ethan before quickly following.

Lydia watched Wendy's departing figure, her face dark.

After Wendy got into Susan's car and left, Ethan's face grew even darker.

Ethan got into the car with a grim expression, the atmosphere inside heavy until Lydia leaned over, her faint perfume making him momentarily dazed.

"Ethan, are you free tomorrow? My parents are here and want to discuss our wedding..." Lydia's beautiful face showed a hint of shyness.

Ethan was momentarily stunned. He had been looking forward to marrying Lydia for a long time, but now that the time had come,he felt a bit resistant.

"Ethan?" Lydia's heart sank when he didn't respond, feeling something was wrong.

Ethan snapped out of it and said gently, "Okay, I'll clear my schedule these days to spend time with yourparents."

"My parents will stay here until our wedding is over. Ethan, I remember your villa at Starlight Bay is empty. Can my parents stay there for a while?"

"Sure."

The Green family was middle-class, but after Lydia went abroad for further studies, her parents sold their house here and returned to their hometown.

Now that they were back, staying in a hotel was inconvenient.

Ethan called his assistant to arrange for the Green family's stay, never once considering Wendy's opinion.

To him, it was just a few days, no big deal.

After Susan dropped Wendy off at home, she left.

There was another bouquet of flowers at Wendy's door.

Lately, not only had she been receiving flowers every day while she was in the hospital, but she continued to receive them even after she returned home.

She still hadn't figured out who the mysterious sender was, and the more she received, the more puzzled she became.

If it was someone trying to pursue her, they wouldn't be so anonymous, not even leaving a name.

If they weren't trying to pursue her, what was the motive behind sending flowers every day?

Wendy picked up today's bouquet and was surprised to find a card attached.

It was a folded white card, a common type from flower shops.Wendy opened it to read the message inside.

With just one look, the color drained from her face. leaving her pale and frightened.

She immediately tore the card into tiny pieces.

The card had no signature, only one line: [I want to hear you moan in bed.]
