Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Wendy tossed the entire bouquet into the nearby trash can.

She threw out all the flowers she had received over the past few days.

There was no information from the flower shop on the flowers,so Wendy had Susan ask the nurse who had placed them in her ward.

The nurse couldn't remember what the person looked like, just that they seemed pretty ordinary.

She assumed it was a delivery from the flower shop and didn't pay much attention.

When Susan found out the flowers were from a pervert, she angrily sprayed disinfectant all over the room. "What if he put something weird on them?"

Her coworker, hearing this, laughed máliciously. "Maybe he smeared his semen on them, and now she's been sniffing it every day!"

Susan sprayed the disinfectant at her coworker. "Your mouth is so filthy.let me disinfect it for you!"

Her coworker quickly shielded herself with a folder and fled the room in a panic.

Despite all this, Wendy had no clue who the mysterious pervert was.

Jessica:[Maybe you should call the police.]

Jessica suggested worriedly in their WhatsApp group chat aftor hearing about it.

Susan:[What good wouId that do? It's just a few bouquets of flowers. He hasn't done anything else or threatened her safety. Even if the police come.they'll just tell you to be careful!]

Jessica was naive, but Susan was sharp and knew how bad the online environment could be.

Susan: [Do you believe that if·you call the police today,by tomorrow the whole internet will know Wendy is being harassed by a pervert?]

Susan: [She's already in the spotlight because of her recent divorce from Ethan. Adding fuel to the fire now would only make things worse.]

Susan: [People won't sympathize with you or defend you; they'll just call you'promiscuous. They'll say it's your own fault for being unchaste, that you must have led him on. Women are always at a disadvantage in these situations.]

After seeing Susan's lengthy rant, Jessica sent a worried voice message,"But we can't jușt do nothing, right?"

Susan: [Don't be too tense. This pervert hasn't even shown his face yet.He might just be a coward who only dares to send flowers secretly.]

Susan typed after thinking for a moment: [Wendy, why don't you stay at my place for a while?]

Susan's house was spacious, but as a doctor, she was already busy with work, and her parents occasionally stayed over.

Wendy felt it wold be too much trouble to impose on her, so she replied:[Thanks for the offer. Susan, but I don't want to trouble you. I'll just be extra careful.l

Susan: [Alright, but you're starting your internship at Blue Ridge Medical Center soon, which is safe. Just don't go out alone after work.]

Susan advised: [We don't know who this person is, so it's better to be cautious.]

Wendy felt a warm surge of gratitude as she lookedzat her friends'concerned messages.

She promised them she would be extra careful before exiting the chat.

The next day was the weekend.

Henry informed Wendy that Ethan had agreed to transfer the villa to her,and the paperwork was already in process.

She would need to go to the County Recorder's Office to sign some documents in a few days.

That was quick.

Was he afraid she might change her mind?

Wendy smirked sarcastically.

But it was good. The Starlight Bay Villas, while not extremely expensive, were worth a couple of million dollars.

Before starting her internship at Blue Ridge Medical Center, she planned to tidy up the place and sell it once the transfer was complete.

That way, she wouldn't have to worry about her and Margaret's medical expenses.

With that in mind. Wendy hailed a cab to Starlight Bay Villas.

When she arrived at the familiar villa, she saw the Green family sitting in the courtyard with Juniper, chatting and laughing.

Juniper was holding Lydia's hand tightly, smiling at Lydia's mother.Thalia Green.

"Thalia, I really like Lydia. She's so much better than that useless Wendy who only knows how to do laundry and cook. When she marries Ethan,I'Il treat her like my own daughter."

"Lydia is lucky to marry into the Collins family. If she hadn't gone abroad to study back then, she and Ethan would have been together long ago.Wendy wouldn't have even been in the picture," Thalia agreed, her tone full of pride.

Wendy stood there quietly, feeling a chill in her heart.

This house was given to her by Ethan, not something she begged for.

Even if Ethan wanted Lydia's parents to move in, he should have asked for her consent, especially since this was once their marital home.

It just showed that Ethan never truly cared about her.

Wendy didn't expect Ethan's love, but he should at least treat her with some respect, not like a disposable object.

As the groupenthusiastically discussed wedding details, Juniper noticed Wendy and her expression darkened.

The others also turned their attention to her.

Sarah scoffed, "What bad luck. Why is she here?"

Lydin, however, stepped forward gracefully and greeted her with a hint of

awkwardness. "Wendy, what a coincidence to see you here."

"It's not a coincidence," Wendy replied, calmly, her gaze steady."I'm here to pack up. I'm planning to sell this place."

Juniper's face twisted with anger and mockery. "What nonsense are you spouting? This house belongs to the Collins family. What right do you have to sell it?"

Sarah chimed in with scorn, "Wendy, you're shameless. This property was earned by Ethan's hard work. What does it have to do with you,a useless woman?"

They clearly didn't know that Ethan had already given the house to Wendy.

Lydia, looking troubled, softly suggested, "Wendy,if you need a place to stay, I can ask Ethan to rent you an apartment. My parents are already settled here, and it would be inconvenient to move."

"You can askEthan," Wendy said coolly. "He gave me this house when we divorced."

"Ethan would never give you the house."

"Exactly, Ethan isn't that stupid. Stop dreaming."

Juniper and Sarah couldn't believe Ethan would make such a decision.

To them. Ethan had no feelings for Wendy,so why would he give her the house?

Thalia sneered, "Some girls these days have no shame. Even after a divorce.they still try to get benefits from their ex-husbands."

Wendy remained calm, not showing any anger.

She quietly took out her phone, dialed Ethan's number, and put it on speaker.

The call was quickly answered, but Wendy didn't speak.

Thalia immediately switched to a gentle tone. "Ethan, we're staying here comfortably, but your ex-wife showed up today, claiming this house is hers and demanding we move out. Isn't that ridiculous? How could you give her the house? Wouldn't that be unfair to Lydia? Explain this to us."

On the other end, Ethan rubbed his forehead, remembering the house transfer was in progress.

The house was indeed supposed to be Wendy's, but after a moment of silence, he said, "Mrs. Green, you can stay for now. I'll talk to her."

Thalia beamed. "Alright. You talk to her."

When Wendy spoke, Ethan hesitated before saying, "Wendy, you're not living there now. What's the harm in letting them stay?"

Wendy's heart sank. The property wasn't officially hers yet, so arguing was pointless.

She lowered her gaze and replied flatly, "Got it."

She hung up, Juniper, feeling triumphant, immediately called the villa's security. "We don't know this person. Get her out of here!"

The security guard appronched to escort Wendy out.

Wendy sald nothing, gave them a final glance, and turned to leave.

Behind her, she heard their smug laughter.

Leaving Starlight Bay Villas with a heavy heart, the sky suddenly darkened.and soon, a torrential downpour began.

Starlight Bay Villas was in a remote area, and taxis were rare even on normal days.In this storm, they were impossible to find.

Wendy sighed, pulling her hood up to shield her head, and started running towards the bus stop she remembered.

Rain poured down, splashing high off the ground.

Wendy struggled through the rain, her vision blurred by the downpour.

As she reached the roadside, ready to cross, a luxury car sped towards her.She had no time to react and was nearly hit.

The sharp screech of brakes echoed in the rain, making Wendy's heart leap as she fell heavily to the ground.

The car's occupant quickly got out, and Wendy was surprised to see it was Alexander.
